Most of the old analogue synths that ppl rave about are simple beasts, but their secret is their sound of which a huge part is played by their osc's

Vanguard definitely has a sound that is unique among its peers, this is what makes it useful.

Most sounds you need when making a tune will be of the standard variety e.g saw lead, square bass etc. Your weird leads and effects might not be able to be made with vanguard but it doesn't matter. You use vanguard to make certain sounds not all the sounds in your tunes.

People don't like to waste their time on idiots that won't listen. It's like having sand kicked in your face when you're trying to help; the forum is better off without them. Someone who acts like a know it all and starts controversy, when they obviously don't know shit, deserves to get cut down. And that is exactly what happened.

whats your problem?

how the fuck is he an idiot may i ask you? because he asked a question you did'nt like?

i cant imagine any expert raving about vanguard, doesnt mean there isnt good examples of trance using vanguard.

Synthation are experts and they made a nice sounding soundset for it. If you're asking for help on a forum you might try and listen to the more experienced members.

If you use RM and FM synthesis along with standard subtractive, you can create some really cutting leads. Also vibrato and a slow filter envelopes that comes down on the note after a second or two really helps.

my point exactly! im no pro and i own a jp-8080 along with v-station, vanguard, pro 53, z3ta+ and some others and i can honestly say that i use vanguard as much as v-station and eq'd and compressed correctly its sounds very clean and crisp....

I got a sound out of Reasons subtractor the other week that was amazing, just one subtractor- 2 osc's and a flanger unit hooked up, and i came up with a preset which stands up to any virus and should be impossible with that particular synthesizer. sounds amazing, full, round, the works, but of course most of what i try to do with the subtractor is thin because its a thin weak synth, but when i came up with that preset it made me remember that somtimes it doesnt matter what you use its more what you do with it. a lot of synths have hidden power if you tweak the right settings. Somtimes you just have to work a little harder.

Vanguard is a cool synth, sound a bit 'tinny or metalic' at times but with the right compression, eq and a bit of distortion this synth can scream for sure

You know, it kind of defeats the purpose of using a sock puppet when you make the sock puppet look just as stupid and annoying as you look (maybe even more so).

Why can't you just leave without a fuss? This has nothing to do with seniority, and I don't think I've ever said this to a new member here before, no matter how irritating, but - you're not wanted here. That ought to be abundantly clear to you and "rubez" by now.

+1

I think this thread should be an example of what NOT to do when joining this forum. Get it in the stickies under "Please refrain from doing this" or something similar.

But would anyone read it?
