DING, totally correct.
That's why it's so fucking annoying to live in the most anti-drug nation in the EU. Sweden and the Netherlands are very similar, long tradtions of increasing democracy and so on.
We just haven't realised that the Netherlands are handling the drug-issue alot better than us.

Yesterday, they mentioned in the news that while the amount of heavy drug-users in the rest of the EU has stayed about the same in the last 20 years, it's gone up with about 75.000 persons in Sweden, and Sweden has a population of roughly 9 million. We have as many heavy drug-users here as in Holland, but Holland has almost twice the population... *sigh*

I do occasionally enjoy an E every now again (tho haven't for a good few months), or sometimes speed. I went thru a once-a-week stage for a few months a while ago, but kinda got sick of it all. I would do it again tho.

Funny, I was watching a morning news program the other day (Sunrise on channel 7 for Aussies), and they were interviewing a medical researcher about government health warnings and anti-drug campaigns against ecstasy. He said that they we're doing it all wrong. The campaign focuses on instant neurological damage and death as side-effects, but this guy said it just doesn't happen. No one is believing it. I personally don't know anyone, or anyone who knows anyone else who has OD'd or died. Maybe this is just where I am, and my apologies to anyone who has had friends or family who have been badly affected in any way by drugs. But many many many more people die of alcohol related heart disease, and the 25 different tobacco related diseases.

I do understand ppl not wanting to do it, i mean its not natural, its something foreign to your body, but so are smokes and grog, there's not that much difference, so remember that next time you sneer at someone doing something different. As for those who choose none of these, well thats fine if it's your bag. Really, we shouldn't need any of them (although reading about the evolution of civilization vs the evolution of the human brain maybe we do?).

As for the E's at raves and getting caned and forgetting tracks, sure the memory gets a bit fuzzy the day after, but one of my best party experiences was walking down to the dancefloor as Tiesto started his first track, just as this pill i had had started to get me. The feeling was that everyone in the room felt the same way I did, a huge buzz of excitement and anticipation, and really...it was something I've not experienced b4 or since. The only reason I couldn't remember much about the 2nd half of the set was becoz some drunk guy in front of me was convinced I was after his girlfriend!

I am kinda stoned as i type this, it turned into a bit of an essay, huh.

You are forgetting that some drugs are inherently addictive. For some people even taking them once will make them physically addicted to that drug. For a lot of drugs we also still don't know long-term side-effects. Imagine if they legalized ecstasy and 30 years later all those people started dying or developing some weird desease? At least we know all potential risks of alcohol.

Personally, I'm against legalising drugs. Those who want drugs get them when even if they illegal. And those criminals that now make money on drugs, would still be criminals only they would make money on something else.

If we just legalize all drugs, most crime will disappear. When we legalize them, using drugs isn't cool anymore. Druguse will go up but we end up with a lot less excessive users.

We could use the money to start educating people. Which also leads to less druguse.

When we legalize drugs, quality will go up which has health advantages. If the government will not put to much tax on drugs, alcohol abuse (the worse drug) will go down.

Think about it

btw: I made a 25 A4-size research about this 3 years ago...

Thing is, in Sweden it's illegal to be under the influence of drugs, you don't even have to be caught with anything on you, just being under the influence is enough for prison.

I'd be happy enough if they made it legal to be under the influence of drugs, it's quite annoying to have the goverment tell me what I can and can't do with my own body
