First time at Skybar, first time seeing Ferry...I had a good time. I was totally expecting it to be that packed, but I wasn't expecting the sound that bad. I thought MO had a GREAT set minus the cutting out. They were hard to find, but once you found them, the pockets of people actually there for the tunes and dancing were a treat. Ughhh Start moving and stop standing around thinking you're so hot- if I wanted to look at statues I'd have gone to the art gallery
Overall good time, but Skybar NOT suitable for a big name like Ferry

It's going to be hard picking anything I even liked about last night.
First thing I'll mention is that the line was waaayyyy overhyped - we went in at like 12, and waited just a few mins in the very short line. Get there at 10pm my ass.
Once we got inside the main problem of the night presented itself - the crowdiness. It was way waaaayyyyy too packed. We could barely find a spot to stand, nevermind dance. Anytime you started dancing, within a few seconds you were either pushed, bumped into, moved aside, stepped on, or had to move to let somebody through. It was sooo frustrating. I mean, even if you wanted to enjoy yourself, you just couldn't. Half the time I couldn't even raise my hands over my head cause it was so packed. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO ENJOY HANDS-IN-THE-AIR TRANCE IF I CAN'T EVEN GET MY HANDS IN THE AIR??? I was thinking, "hey, If I get pretty wasted and go to the front of the DJ booth, I'll be able to rock out with the crowd no matter what". But no, in front of the DJ booth it was BRUTAL.
And the speakers sucked too. It was loud (if you were standing right next to one), but there was no bass, no OOMPH. And as soon as you stood outside of the direction of the speaker, the music would be drowned out by the voices. Meh.
Which brings me to my next point, WHAT WAS UP with all the FERRY WORSHIPPING that was going on? I've never seen this kind of fanboyism before. He actually stopped the music completely just so they could repeatedly chant his name. WTTTFFF??? I felt like I was at a Backstreet Boys concert. It'd be halfway acceptable if Ferry was dropping a HUGE set, but I don't think anyone will argue that his set was average at best. I'd much rather see a crowd go off to an artist by dancing like crazy (which was impossible because everyone was crammed in like sardines), than by standing there chanting his name like retards.
Goes without saying that I didn't enjoy the crowd either. Sorry if I wasn't really chatty with anyone (I must have seemed so dazed), but I was in that state of mind where you are in denial of what's going on and you're trying your best to just ignore it all.
And the last surprise of the night - the music was completely shut off by 3am sharp. I came to Skybar expecting Ferry to play till 4, then they would shut Skybar down and people would move to the Drink to finish their night. considering it cost $30, I don't think that was such a far fetched expectation. Instead, I was forced to leave the club at a measly 3am, 3 hours after I came in, still drunk and high. Wow.
Honestly, Guv has been disappointing me soo much lately. I don't want to sound like one of those vain arseholes, but I think they're going over the limit here. It's so easy to see that Guv just doesn't give a shit about its patrons AT ALL. As long as they get our money, that's all that matters. We have to put up with soooo much of their crap - the lineups, the constant overcrowdedness, misadvertisement of prices, the sketch, and it just keeps getting worse and worse. It's like the only person who actually cares about providing an enjoyable experience to the customers is the DJ. Especially when you compare it to clubs like FootWork whose staff go SO far to make sure everyone has a wicked time inside. After yesterday, I just feel like $30 was stolen from me.
In terms of music, highlights of the night were the same songs that were the highlights of the night when I saw him at Labour Of Love. That was 9 months ago. Ferry, please find some new records to play. It's great that you play the classic tracks, but there are A LOT of classic tracks to choose from. Dropping Punk, Doom's Night, and Galaxia everytime you come just gets stale.
So that's about it. Nice seeing Orko, Jeff, Lisa, and Andielips (holy crap it was awesome meeting you btw). Oh yeah, and Italian_poison, lol. Sorry if I missed anyone - I think I'm still in a state of shock over the night.

AMEN!
But at the end of the day his set had NO FLOW at all. Just highlights, like ok I am glad he played Galaxia, my fav tune by him, but the set was too obvious. His interaction was good, but would've loved it to be more. Every time I have seen Armin I always leave that place sweatin, same thing at Labour last year, then Ferry drifted me into the morning, was hoping for the same thing here.
I am even play ASOT 303 right now and am enjoying the quality of the set better, sorry but it's true. I know Ferry wanted to play till sunrise, I mean come on why not right? then again this may have even been out of GUV's control, there are city noise laws of course....lets do this on the island next time!

We pretty much share the exact same thoughts about this, so I am not going to bother writing a review. It would almost be as much of a waste of time as last night was.
Just a few add ons:
I haven't gone out to a trance event for a very long time. Ferry's set last night pretty much destroyed any hope left of me liking trance (but I still have respect for the old stuff. ^5).
I basically feel like I spent thirty dollars to be helplessly crushed between gross sketchies, while getting my feet stepped on at the same time. Wow. if I wanted to experience that, I am sure that I could have found a cheaper event to attend last night. And when I finally found a place to sit down, a nasty/horny couple started making out on me. I couldn't move. Then the guy touched me because he thought I was the girl. EW.
Hmm, what else? Hahahha Ferry is a bitchass. I hated the fact that he stopped the music so everyone could yell "FERRY! FERRY! FERRY! FERRY! WE LOVE YOU, FERRY!" (x 50)
Seriously, when you think about it, one twelfth of his set was of people giving him an ego boost. He didn't even deserve it. If he played a ten hour set, I would probably accept such ridiculousness. But not for two hours of garbage.
Even though I like jungle music a lot, I still need a trance fix once in a while. I was actually looking forward to last night.
I am so upset.
It was nice to see some of you. I expected to see more friends, but it was so crowded.
Andielips, you are awesomeness. I just wanted you to know that, haha. Before I knew who you were, I saw you on the dancefloor and thought, "Wow, that girl is so positive!"
I was very flattered that you wanted to me@t me, btw. <3
Ferry sux0red. I guess I could have summed up the entire night with those two words.
FUCK!!! ><
And the sound was HORRIBLE. It would have been more enjoyable to listen to a GOOD set on my computer speakers, ffs!!
I don't even know what the highlight of my night was. Oh wait - IT WAS WHEN WE LEFT!!!!
