great. now i see why pop edm has raped other genres, and completely falsly named their genres lmao "prog" I thought it was out of maliciousness and to make money, but apparently it just happened cuz nobody had knowledge or respect of the past.

If max/msp is the end all be all of synthesis, if you can make "analogue sounds" on max/msp, then why do autechre still use hardware?

Oh I know, because it rules, and they know what its done in the past.

and what is the electro\pop scene? electro sort of came out of or started a pop scene or something...back in the early 80s...when it was married to hiphop, but real electro isnt pop music now.

Not at all. I love all that stuff. If I had a job where I made some real money, I'd be buying a few analogue synths of my own. And I've argued with people about the definition of "electro" in a couple of threads.

Ignorance of history is one reason. The other three are:

1. Laziness.

2. Low cost of entry (free cracked versions of DAWs / synths, etc. are all you really need to make most genres now); means less dedication required to "get your foot in the door."

3. Higher potential payoff (more fame and money in making it than there used to be); means more people are drawn because they want to make what's already popular and get popular themselves.

btw. all those people her propagating that all this hardware with the so well sounding rotten circuitry ist oh so cheap, seem to be neglecting the costs of integrating those things in your homestudio. You will need an audio-interface with several inputs, a mixer and maybe a midi-cv converter. all those of decent quality as you probably do not want to kill your "fine nuances" with bad recording equipment. You should consider that before buying old stuff. Integrating analogue hardware into a DAW is an art on its own, not as heavy as microphone recording, but not as easy as you might think.
beats and beeps will now argue that you should use an analogue stepsequencer to play the synths and tweak the parameters live. Record it with a tapedeck and finally sample it and use it in an Amiga Mod-Tracker, but I guess that very few people here want to do that. At least that puts the "hardware is so cheap" argument into perspective.

i havne;t read all previous posts but has anyone suggested the minimoog or the Trilogy soft synths?

i recomend minimonsta, i dont know if it is better than arturia minimoog , it just came with my remote sl. but i heard that arturia is more cpu hungry

Minimoog is pretty fun for instant phattness but like you said, you can pretty much say goodbye to your cpu.
