Then you need a sense of humor too.
I'm not actually pro mac. I have both a windows based laptop and a mac book, both new in the last year. I like and hate them each for different reasons.

And I was supposed to know that based on your comments in this thread how? Tongue in cheek isn't always easy to pick up with no reference point, esp on the internet.

If Macs "just work," then why are there sites like macfixit.com and stuff, HUH SMART GUYS?

KERNEL PANIC OH SHIT WHAT DO I DO OH MY GOD MY MAC IS ON FIRE OH JESUS

Horseshit they just work, they screw up just as often. The only people who have issues with Windows are those who suck at computers.

This kind of statement gets me annoyed. Having to deal with both macs and pcs running windows or linux, it's kind of shooting yourself in your foot when you say something like this, if you're a pro mac person.

Macs give error messages too, and I would say that 95% of Mac users won't even know where to start looking for appropriate log files to properly fix it. Windows may give cryptic messages, but most of the time I find that it does a decent job of trying to pinpoint an issue. Linux is better, but involves a steeper learning curve. OS X, which tries to completely avoid pointing users to the terminal, does a great job of dumbing down the power and detail of the operating system, which is, to it's credit, both a success and failing point.
Why is it that Windows is criticized for hiding system files and directories by default, but file browser of OS X is hiding most of the system files as well but isn't pointed out?

Mac is a very polished OS, and is very good at what it does, but having used a variety of OS flavors, it comes down to this. The OS is really irrelevant. If you're capable of doing work and adapting, you will do it with the tools available to you. If I'm unable to write a document and format it in Mac, but can on Windows, that's really more a failing of me rather than the OS or the software.

To the person that mentioned the Mac gets you more creative, it's kinda BS, because what just got you "more" creative were simply different templates that shipped with OS X. That's no more creative than me tracing a Van Gogh.

I've never gotten an error message with a Mac.

what I get instead is that GOD DAMN SPINNING COLOUR CIRCLE SPIRAL ICON!!!

ARGH!

If you want a sweet laptop, MK, get a Dell XPS M1330 (can't believe I'm saying this). Be sure to get the LED backlit screen...

First indication of a comment that could be taken in sarcastic manner from more than one viewpoint?

Neither here nor there, since I've already conceded your point that you were making a joke and that I missed it.

Yeah, damn spinning beach ball of death.

I've gotten the Mac BSOD equivalent, which is a kinda grayish screen with a message saying your computer needs to be restarted in about 5 or so different languages. I hate how it tells you it knows it's cacked itself, but won't actually give up what the offending process/thread/driver was.

lol at the Mac vs PC argument even here. I just had one with a contractor from the US.

In any case, I find that most of the proponents of Mac, save the very few who will actually use a Linux terminal, are arguing in stricly dumbed down layman terms. And ultimately that is the biggest advantage of a Mac. Their whole suite of iLife (God I hate that term) seems to be catered to the computer iLiterrate, and I mean that in the most flattering perspective. A Mac is good at doing what it needs to do: open the box and for all most basic tasks, you're pretty much good to go. People keep mentioning the slick interface. Well, you now have Vista, but prior to Vista, there were applications that could be loaded onto XP that would completely alter the GUIs to give you all them purdy pictures that the Mac users seem to love. Granted, I like the Vista interface. The argument that Macs don't get problems with viruses as much is perfectly legitimate; there are so few Mac users that its almost pointless to write a virus to exploit the Mac architecture. That's not to say that the Mac has any fewer gaps. Quite the contrary, it has just as many, but why bother bringing down the whole 10 Mac users, when you can target millions of PC users...

As for the argument of templates and more creativity comming from a Mac, I find that laughable. There are, literally, thousands of applications, suites, programs, templates, and all manner of 'creative' enhancers that are simply not available on a Mac. Now, should you have something go wrong with your Mac, you'll find lackluster support. If you're on a PC, there are a plethora of absolutely FREE applications, forums, and other resources available to anyone.
