I'm listening to EDM since 98, let say in 2000 i started to listen to the real underground trance. Sometimes i have listen to it 16 hours a day. And i can say i love the tracks i loved 8 years ago still as on the first day.

Yes, i'm sometimes also bored of todays trance. How boring and lifeless the tracks sound. But then i put some old favourite on and i'm again in heaven and i feel how much i still love this music. How much it means to me.

I just know in my heart i will listen to this music until the day i die and i will love it and every single track that i love like i did on the first day and i do now. Why? Because this music is me...the emotions in my favourite tracks...this is me...i can't explain it other way. Trance is my personality.

I got hooked on trance @ about 2001. Then I ventured into all forms of electronic music and never truly looked back -- except for some crud.

Then, I never got bored of it. I'll let you in on the big tip... you ready??

I LISTEN TO MANY FORMS OF MUSIC! ...almost randomly... There's a whole world of music out there...

16 hours a day?!? Am I just a casual listener when I think that is mindnumbingly insane and even irresponsible? I like trance, but sheesh...

i would say that if any of you are bored of EDM go to a non dance electronic artist like amon tobin or shpongle. both incredible artists.

Shpongle certainly has strong influences from non edm... but are you refering to that or that shpongle is ambienty?

Certainly a lot of the comments here forget the genre ambient.

Nobody is forgetting ambient. It's just that ambient isn't part of EDM, because it's not dance music.

True.

On topic, i pass through phases that i'm bored to listen to tracks that have synths and four to the flour beats all the time (be it house, techno or trance) thats why i'm listening to various types of rock music like post-rock, kraut-rock, 80s new-wave or other genres like various types of ambient or new-age. It really is a fresh break, and after a certain period, listening back to an EDM track sounds fresher to my ears.

How is it not part of EDM/electronica?

Sure it isn't dance music... but thats a bit of a literal definition.

Progressive rock uses synths but it isn't part of EDM... even if it is electronic and it is sometimes dancey.

Well if what we are talking about is "EDM" then it would make sense to literally talk about electronic dance music, would it not?

I didn't see anyone use the term "Electronica" but you.
