Well no, you see... we still have Sasha alive today giving interviews and based on the ones I have read and based on the sets I have heard, you are essentially full of shit. You said you read interviews where he says things that would simply back up your claims. Am I out of line for asking you to give me links to those interviews, so I can come back here and say "Thanks. I stand corrected. You were right RJT."

This is very entertaining by the way.

You're out of line to expect that I don't have anything better to do.

There are plenty of folks who've read and heard what Sasha has been up to the past few years - it's not going to kill (or even bother) me to have you think I'm full of shit.

If you're happy watching a guy fade between tracks with minor EQ changes and simple mixing using a computer program designed for wonderfully creative work, cool beans. I'm not. I actually DJ with ableton and know it can do MUCH MUCH MUCH more if you put effort into it, especially with a controller like Maven, which offers ridiculous possibilities. It's the equivalent of driving an F1 car to work in the morning going 10mph under the speed limit.

Do I really think he digs for all of his own records? No, of course not. Do I think he digs for music on his own though? Of course I do. How about I'll pay you a million dollars for proving me wrong since your little claims seems a bit more ridiculous then mine. Of course people are helping set up "the show" but when it comes down to choosing the tracks to be played that night, I think it's more realistic to believe it's coming from his personal taste and not someone else's.

Absolutely he digs for some, but gets most of the rest sent to him. But the consequence of this is not surprising hard-core aficionados and fans like myself. I'd much rather watch Three or Lazarus spin since they actually go out and find music that is fucking interesting and special rather than sitting on an ftp waiting for some promos to arrive. Of course he choses the tracks he plays...I mean if he didn't at least do THAt what the hell would he really be doing at all? Smiling and turning a few knobs? Jesus

Clovis, you go on and on about how Sasha should do more with ableton, what exactly do you want him to do? Granted you may be able to do more, but maybe thats your thing?

I'm not bashing you or anything, but say Sasha was taking suggestion, what would you want him to do with his sets? Add samples from James Brown, play pellas overtop tracks?

Jesus. I mean I knew you guys were self-righteous snobs, but I didn't realize you'd actually take offense at someone for using new technology to make an aspect of his life easier.

Maybe he doesn't. The question is still valid. Sticks belong on the ground, not up your ass.

We aren't - what's offensive is thought that he decided to advocate the idea that his creative possibilities were expanded tenfold because of a program for years on end only to say in the end "It just makes it easier to do what I was doing before."

I want him to surprise me. Which he has not done in a long, long time.

As for being a self righteous snob. Just because I feel passionately about something does not mean I have a stick up my ass, and I wish more people could tell the difference...

Just to clarify, I've seen Sasha be absolutely amazing on ableton. I've seen him keep tracks mixed together for 6-8 minutes and make it sound perfect. I've seen him build an outgoing track perfectly into the next track's build untill the two were virtually indistinguishable. I've seen him make entirely new tracks out of 2 loops and play with them to set the next tune up perfectly. He is capable of really fucking owning it with ableton. Last time I saw him it was tunes mixed one after the other in regular succession. The tunes were ok. He added some light effects here and there. It was mostly boring, in my opinion of course. It didn't have that magic that made his experimental days with the laptop so fun and exciting.

Offensive? You are offended by this? Wow, I think humanity has reached a new low with this one.
