you have bought into the marketing of plasma. plasma ONLY produces better blacks. nothing more. the brightness and color reproduction are far superior in LCDs compared to plasma. the reason you didnt see an LCD larger than 36 inches was due to manufacturing defects that were too prevalent in anything larger. this has been overcome and they are producing larger ones now.

when i bought my 42" plasma in early 06, LCD's were in no comparison to plasma in those sizes then..

so my comments were based on early 06 42" and up plasma vs lcd...

edit: just rememberd that my buddy has a 50" Samsung LCD and every time i was at his place i always thought it was a plasma... i was actually shocked to find that out...

edit #2: also will throw you guys a bone in that LCD's are infinitely easier to move than plasmas.. plasmas must be verticle at all times and LCD's need not...

haha yeah your 42" fits in the, "not past the manufacturing defect" time. they didnt get past it iirc till very late 06 or early 07 when sharp showed that massive 72" LCD.

i find it funny and feel bad at the same time for ppl who rushed out and bought cheap hd dvd players around christmas and all.
