The thinking is that they would run the subway in both directions, on one track, so they could do repairs on the other track. Then after the repairs/inspections are done, they switch to the other track. Once 6am comes, they use both tracks again, and its business as usual. |
they'd probably have to build more switches between station. because right now, they don't have that many in the old parts of the system. for example, there isn't a switch between union and bloor, only a manual one at college or queen i believe.
