Hey everyone. What a night. I think I aged 3 years yesterday. We started setting things up at 8am ready to open doors at 5pm. Everything was going as planned until it started raining which delayed the setup for about 2 hours. We had already sold all of the presale tickets so we didn't even have to but just to make it a pleasant experience for everyone, we rented the big tents. The tent people showed up 4 hours late! Tent delay combined with the rain delaying the stage setup, we really fell behind which caused the late opening of the doors. That was the bottleneck right there. We were prepared for a steady flow of people throughout the day but when we finally opened, there were probably 1000 people already waiting and we could never recover from that due to a disaster that followed.
The generator blew!
Yes the generator that was powering the whole event and the lighting and video systems that were supposed to be much bigger than last year's show blew and it also blew the lights. At this point the people from the ticketing company at the front door didn't have proper power so it slowed processing of the tickets with the computer systems causing even bigger lines. The front door lines resulted in bigger drink ticket lines etc etc. It just caused a chain reaction of operational disasters. We contacted the generator company who ended up bringing a new generator after midnight when it was already too late. It just wasn't supposed to go down like this at all.
The separation of 21+ and 18+ areas was necessary by law so that wasn't even a choice for us.
We are really very sorry about all the waiting and not being able to use the lights and video screens.
Aside from these issues though the crowd energy was great and along with our local boys Kered, Kiraly and Randy Boyer, Second Sun, Dave Dresden and Tiesto rocked the crowd proper. I believe musically it was a very satisfying night for almost everyone.
We will surely make up for the inconveniences experienced in future events.
Best,
Bora

Nah, he didnt get booed off, people were just chanting for Tiesto.
Bora, Thanks for filling us in on what went down. Some things are just out of your control. It sounds like if the tent got there on time, this event would have went off gone off without a hitch. As I said earlier, I kind of liked the fact that there were no lights, jsut cause it made the night all about the music.
Tiesto threw down one of the sickest sets i've ever heard, and that makes up for all the unpleasentries by far.... he must have had the bpm at like 140 for half the night...just insane

This is not good for a guy who's opening up a club soon. I understand that most of this is not your fault but there should have been a backup plan. On top of that, the staff was horrible, inlcuding the lady at the ticket line using a calculator, and drunk bartenders! Not to mention you had
1-line for tickets
2-line for 21 braclets
3-line for drink tickets
4-line for drinks
If you were like me you spent at least 2 and half hours in lines.
This was a def step down from last year and a lot of people are were dissapointed.

This was my first Tiesto/Trance event and I had an amazing time, but I was expecting more from Boramusic. I always watched video's online and saw the Hartford event from previous years and got extremely hyped. At this year's event, I was really confused about the lighting and thought that there would be more energy coming from the stage and lighting effects. After reading Bora's previous comment it now makes sense. In addition, the long lines were a little disappointing, and the prices were ridiculous ($6 for a tiny bottle of water). Nonetheless, the energy in Hartford was beyond belief. The music made up for all the flaws tenfold. I arrived during Second Sun's performance and the place wasn't that packed. I'd say maybe 100 people dancing in front of the stage and rocking out, while most were drinking in the 21+ area. Around the time Dresden came on the crowd was extremely packed. It was an outdoor event, yet it still got extremely hot near the stage due to the energy from overwhelming crowd. I cannot imagine going to see Tiesto at Webster Hall in NYC instead. I would have died from dehydration. By the time Tiesto hit the stage the crowd was going crazy; my friends were dancing on the tent poles on top of barrels (which they soon got kicked off from by security). Anyways, someone mentioned earlier that this should not have been an 18+ event. My friends and I are 20 and this was our first time attending an event like this and I must say I was extremely happy that BoraMusic made this 18+. I don't think by making the event 18+ it took away from the experience for others above 21. As Bora said, the lines were due to technical difficulties and would have went smoothly otherwise. Although next year it won't matter for me, I still believe Bora should consider keeping the outdoors events at Hartford 18+ because they expanded their crowd to hundreds of more diehard trance fans. Thanks for an awesome experience Bora Music, I will definitely be seeing you again when you bring Tiesto back next year!
Also, does anyone know where I can see additional pictures from the event? I saw the pictures put up by Bora in this thread but I know there have to be dozens more. There were men on top of the roof the entire night taking pictures, and others came in front of the stage to take additional pictures. I would love to get ahold of these, so if anyone has a link or can upload please do, it would be greatly appreciated.

I really appreciate Bora giving us an explanation to what went on. All to often, an event is poorly run and no one steps up to either take the blame or explain what went wrong.
Even though this event had some big problems, I give Bora major props for getting it done despite the problem and making sure that everyone had a good time at the end. I would def go to another Bora event..

I def appreciate the heads up on what went wrong. It ended up being an amazing night all in all, Tiesto was AMAZING, and thats what we were there for right- some SICK music, so with no lights, too many lines & all - it worked out to be an AMAZING night. I was of course a little disappointed that Tiestos set got cut to 2 hours from 3 hours though. Out of hand though right, have to just enjoy despite
I do have to say though that I was there specifically for Randy Boyers set so I was very very heartbroken to have his set cut down to a few tag teamed songs with Kered & Kiraly... I mean that was a good compromise given the situation, so I was thankful to have him on the decks at all. But again, I do want Bora to know that Randy brought in a lot of fans for right at 5pm... I hope Bora & 960 can continue to have a lot of Boyer events in CT in the future. much apppreciated on the emailed apology (so soon, too). Thanks for all the hard work, like I said, that show went off to be one of the best this summer and I cant wait to come back next year!!!
