Of course its subjective, but we're discussing each person's subjective opinions here not universal fact. RJT may present his posts in ways that lead some to think he believes his opinion to be absolute truth, but its really just his opinion. It remains that people often like one or the other for similar reasons, and it was pointed out that people who are very conscious about really mixing music and fine blending generally do NOT prefer the 800.
You can mix a great set on almost any of these mixers, but when it comes down to preference, the reasons why certain people choose one over the other are very telling and reflective of who they are as DJs. |
but you see, a post like this in the first place i'm sure wouldn't have caused all the ruckus that has happened in here. i have no problems with RJT or anyone in this forum, but it just seems like he bashed at every single post that woody would make, and quite offensively rather than a more neutral approach like you just did.
it really all boils down to what you enjoy. some people when djing enjoy more the long transitions and very smooth mixing, where as some like to be the effects whore. i have a friend who owns the djm800 and constantly throws in effects, which personally i don't like, but i can't tell him it's wrong. if i told him to stop using effects completely, it would probably take the fun out of djing for him. there isn't any one right way to dj in all respects.
the djm 800 is most definitely the more "commercial" product, but it's not just straight up garbage.
everyone is into their own different thing.
