I am crushed. Absolutely crushed and heartbroken. We were the better team throughout the entire match but we just couldn't finish it. I knew it would come back to haunt us. Then that goal and a minute later the final shot of the game At that point I knew it was over. Our guys were crushed before they even took the penalties.
Yeah, you could see psychologically and by the looks on your player's faces that they just weren't ready for the penalties to be taken as they geniunely thought they had the game won, and you just knew if wasn't going to be their night when that happened.
With a lot of your players now gone through retirement, it's gonna have to be some helluva new generation of players if your going to have a chance in 2010.

Nah. They just weren't prepared for penalties at all. They thought they had won the game and their mindset was one of celebration- just look at Bilic and everyone else invading the pitch after Croatia's goal. You need guts and a level head to take a penalty in a shoot-out and they were never, ever going to get into that state of mind. The Turks would have been so lifted by their last-second goal and they were always going to win. When you equalise with the last kick of the game, you know you're destined to win.

Only Niko Kovac is retiring. Simunic and Robert Kovac will stay, as might Simic as an experienced sub. Everybody else is young and will be peaking. Oh and Eduardo will be back. 2010 WC and 2012 Euro should be perfect for these guys. It just sucks that we couldn't go into the WC as European champions. Oh well, such is life. Time to regather and kick England out of the WC

i can see that happening too. we had the same team knock us out of the 04 euro & 06 wc, seems fitting another team should stop us from getting to both the 08 euro & 10 wc, i can picture it already. fucking england

Lol, you've got a half decent team with good technical ability, you just lack what other teams like Russia tend to be able to do : play good, entertaining, attacking football. Who else of note is in your WC Qualifying group anywho? I know there's Croatia, but there's always the other slot up for grabs
I didn't know Robert Kovac and Simunic weren't retiring Fledz, sorry, seems like the old dawgs still got something to give yet

ukraine was the only other noteworthy one. shouldn't be *too* taxing although they did reach the quarters last WC.. i can't say as i've been following them recently though

Well if us Scots can beat them, then I'm sure you won't have too much difficulty

Imo Turkey doesn't deserve to be in the semi-finals. Got to admit, I didn't get a chance to see the match against the Czechs but from what I did see, it was utter crap.
At least Turkey is in the semi-finals unlike another team that dominated but then got dominated...
