If all he wanted to do was web/videos/music for $1700 he could have purchased a 32inch LCD with a PS3 with a 600 dollar computer with monitor and he would have been better off.

i have running on this laptop vista and never had a blue screen of death, i didn't even know Vista had that in the first place.

If there's a BSOD, it means you have a bad component or a bad driver, most probably its the ram, trust me on this one.

anyone who buys consoles, a cheap desktop and a big ass TV fails at life, and more importantly, fails at games

So I turn it on...everything is running great. Very quick machine. The only thing they installed for me was the ASUS P5Q motherboard drivers. Not the Soundmax or Video drivers...I did that myself...I started downloading F.E.A.R and GRID Toca Race Driver demos to see how they run on my computer and the most odd thing is both of them finish downloading and I cant find them anywhere on my computer at all...I even did a search for the file names and remember saving them to the desktop. Finally I get GRID to download and install it and when it finishes installing I cant find the files anywhere on my PC...its like it didnt even install...very weird. So I started throwing on the basics...winzip...winrar...spybot....ad-aware...AVG Virus and the computer froze so I restarted it and got very worried...then when I got back to the desktop the screen goes blue and it sais

CRASH DUMP Saving Files 1% all the way till it reaches 100%...guessing its backing up files before reboot and keeps doing the same thing everytime I start it up. I tried doing a system restore but the same thing happens. Im going back to the store today to return everything and get my money back. I want to go to AMD Phenom anyway. These guys are fucking retarded, I bought the computer on Sunday of last week and Im still having problems a week later. I brought it back twice already. Sometimes I just feel like going to Future Shop and buying a generic brand without any hastles.

if you can get your money back i would really consider taking my advice. Right now you can really get a cheap deal on a PC. I wouldn't recommend getting a pc from future shop. I think you would be really really with 1080p and a PS3.

Well I wont be the only one using it. I already have an Xbox 360 so Im fine in that area. My pops would pop a blood vessel if I bought a PS3. I dont know where to go to buy my PC. I want to go somewhere with experienced builders so I dont get fucked over. The guys at this place (Canada Computers) are all young and inexperienced so I should have known better but I was stubborn.

well its very difficult and i think its safe to say that the days of a computer shop building you a pc are dead. Why not get a dell or HP gaming system. At least you will have support and if theres an issue you won't be the only one with it. Those computer shops cant make a profit unless they rip you off the margins are too low esp considering how little they buy from suppliers. Unfortunately anyone that really knows what there doin with desktops isn't going to be working at a computer shop for long they just don't make enough money. sell your xbox and throw the money into a PS3 explain to your dad that the money is better invested since it saves you from having to buy a BluRay player in the future. Plus online gaming is free with sony.

Cuz most boutique systems are shit and overpriced. Why not build your own with the same spec, at less than half the price? Also, what's with you and the bigass LCD and PS3. Yeah, you said its a better gaming investment. It was pointed out to you that PCs on this level really don't compare to gaming consoles. It is ridiculous to compare them, since they are two markets completely segmented.

Anyways, wish I could help with the missing files, that sounds kind of questionable. I've been on Vista for a while now, and its stable as a rock.

So what do you rekon? Buy the parts from a custom shop and get someone I know to build it? I have a few friends who are amazing with computers...funny that I didnt go to them for advice before I made my purchase...oh well. I did learn my lesson...always do research before you get fucked in the ass.
