overall a good night, nothing compared to Stereo last yr (to be expected)

mix between Les Sketch and the opera crowd, cox was holding it down good tho (tight mixing, good flow) ....just to bad it wasnt his techno that he's known for

remember he dropped Mark Knight & Funkagenda - Done & Dusted

(can't remember what else, was pretty drunk)

wouldn't go see him at a club anymore, besides the change in the music from club to afterhours, I don't like when i'm drunk and theres everyone around me fucked out of their mind ....hitting me & my gf, dropping our drinks, the whole nine yards...

technohead I'll tell you what a lot of people may have already told you .... The days of the fast loopy techno are over. New techno tracks have minimal roots and their sound is a lot more ''mature''...a much ''richer'' sound than the fast techno loops we used to listen too at the end of the 90s, early 2000. For a producer, it's a lot more interesting to work on a track that people will listen to rather than a banging loop. Techno is much deeper now, it reaches other parts of your brain, and it does this at 130 BPM....

Cox seemed to have developed a taste for the new stuff too...not even a year ago, he was playing every single Deadmau5 tracks in his sets... times change...

Yah but that's why the scene is dying. Newbies like to dance and have fun. They are not interested in the sublties of the music. You develop that over time. There would be a much bigger scene here if more of the dj's played like Preach, bender etc.. Most people that go to afterhours don't really care. Time and time again whenever the DJ picks it up a bit (higher tempo better build ups) there are more smiles, more happy dancers and that's what the scene what always about. It wasn't about mopping around and sitting down falling asleep.

Anyways, I guess your right the music changes and there is nothing you can do about it..

Carl cox throwing down a proper techno set at a venue like Opera would not make any sense. The crowd/venue in this case is not suited as much to techno as the more-housy elements of his sets.

In any case, it was a great party. The carl came on at 12 sharp and threw it down for a good 3 hours. I stayed on the steps pretty much the whole time. The stage setup on the side, closer to the VIP was a bit odd and awkward, but I guess it was better than the normal booth at Opera which is so far and high up from the crowd. I knew the sound would suck at Opera and it did not disappoint; it was terrible.

I didn't really recognize much of what he spun, even after listening to a bunch of his Global sets from September and his Ibiza Carl Cox & Friends CDs. I'm pretty sure he played Sharam-Texi though...it's been stuck in my head all week now. I saw some familiar faces but not everyone! Monday was pretty rough, but all in all more than worth it!

Please someone bring him back soon and not wait till next fall, like it seems to be the case for the past 4 years!
