I just came back from a week in Raleigh, not far from you. My brother lives there.

I was introduced to a real Southern BBQ. I brought back a gallon of the BBQ sauce you have there that you mix with a pulled pork sandwich. Yum!

I also got Bone Suckin' Sauce while I was there. Can't wait to try it next time I do ribs.

Hush Puppies were also a new food I tried that I've never had. Tasty with the honey butter not available up here either :P

The last place my brother took me to was to a Golden Corral where I was able to sample much of southern coooking. Yeah, a really cheep buffet, but nice to try different things.

Yeah there's a lot of good BBQ here in NC man. Lots of focus on chopped pork. Some of the best places are the ones off the beaten path that look like dirty little shacks in the country, especially in this little town called Lexington. I'm surpised you never had hush puppies dude. There's a place here in Charlotte called Mac's that's rediculous. Best BBQ I've ever had was at a place in Texas, about an hour outside of Austin called "The Salt Lick"... INSANE! The Rendezvous in Memphis and Arthur Bryants in KC are good too

Dude, aren't most of the best restaurants "off the beaten path"? I mean, I know the best Chinese food places are always the shack like places that aren't in the epicenter of travel. Total hole-in-the-wall type places. You miss it if you aren't aware of them.

You ever see that show No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain? He's a former chef... goes to places all over the world sampling their cuisine and always has a local show him the real places away from the tourist traps. I fucking love non-chain restaurants... definitely where it's at.

Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives is another good one... if only the host wasn't such an annoying douchebag.

Haha I love how Tony always gets hammered. I can't get into Bizarre Foods for 2 reasons though.... too many episodes of that guy eating various animal cock and balls, and something about seeing a gluttonous fat bald guy chowing down makes me cringe. If they had some hot chick on there I'd probably watch it.
