I would agree with you that he isn't a DJ, at least not a DJ in the sense that you and I probably consider a DJ. IMO....you are no longer a DJ when you move to a laptop to do your performances however; if the DJs main job is to play music for the club goer to dance to then he is a DJ but uses a different medium to play the music.

With technology comes change and he is going to be one of those performancers that not only will embrace the technology but will be a leader in the change to new technology.

Def. of DJ = one who plays songs in front of a crowd on a regular basis.

I don't understand all the fuss re: the specifics of what 'DJing' supposedly does/does not involve.

A DJ is a Disc Jockey.....laptops are not Discs

If you are using a laptop you are no longer a Disk Jockey.....but as I said.....if the DJs main job is to play music for the club goer to dance to then he is a DJ but uses a different medium to play the music.
