Hamas is seen in the Western world as no different from Al Quaeda, and more importantly the US sees them in a similar light to the Taliban.
Jordan, Egypt, and even Fatah knew Israel was going to pund Gaza HARD this time around. In fact, most of the leaders of the Arab world knew it, and the Arab league is even postpoing its discussions on the escalating situation in Gaza. The Arab foreign ministers could have met Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday, but they've pushed it to Wednesday. They see Hamas as a proxy of Iran.
The Western world is in the midst of a post-Christmas/New Years mode. The major Western leaders and governments are all on vacation until early to mid January. This suits them just fine as they have little sympathy for Hamas.
Hamas was democratically elected by the people of Gaza, and as such Western leaders have little regard when the citizens of Gaza fall victim to this escalation. They brought this on themselves, and Hamas brought this on them. They can cry about being the underdog all they want, but little will be done to help them until they help themselves by asking for a proper ceasefire.
They need to let Abbas regain control of Gaza since he can bring peace and quiet to the strip, and can properly negotiate a real peace with Israel. Hamas can't negotiate shit since they dont even recognize Israel's right to exist, and Hamas takes their orders from Iran.
If Mohammad were alive today he'd be standing with the people of Israel, whom he had great respect for.
