Half hour cutscenes in an action game should be considered blasphemy.

It makes sense in some RPGs because I've always felt that the whole point of an RPG was to tell a great story, but then after the cut scenes there's still usually a good 30 hours of gameplay to be had. That said, a GAME should always have more GAME to it than movie. Xenosaga failed for a reason, for instance.

Now onto the thread-jack!

Whoever listed Smash Bros Brawl in their top 10, how could you place that game above either Melee, or the original? Tripping alone relegates the game to the shovel-ware void. Did you just mean you like the entire series as a whole?

Connerman, if you end up getting a DS, pick up Contact as well. 12 hour RPG with some nice little quirks and some great music The FF IV remake is fantastic too.

Bullshit.
Those forces combine to create a soaking, boiling mudstorm on Valentine's Day.

I thought melee was much better than brawl and only a tiny bit better than the n64 version.

I was old enough to enjoy getting hammered with my friendswhen melee came out. Nobody make a gay hammer joke or you'll be banned from the internet.

There are so many reasons for me to pick up a DS...but I already have a hard time playing what I have as it is. But it's getting harder to resist by the day. Thanks for the recommendations.

And you say the FF IV (4) remake was good...but did they remake FF VI as well (6)? FF6 (In Japan that is, FF3 here in the states) is probably my favorite RPG of all time. If I remember correctly, the game made it over to Nintendo's handheld?

FF3 is on the DS as well. Wait until April for the DSi to come out. It will have a larger and even better screen than the DS light, and a built in Camera/mp3/media player. Then, get a flash cart and you are set!

Any idea on a price? I ask because those extra features are rather pointless to me, considering I have a digital camera (albiet a shitty one from RadioShack, but it does the trick), MP3 player and a PSP.

Going on nothing but my own projections pulled outa my ass:

DSi will be 50 bucks more than a regular DS Lite. DS Lite will probably run you anywhere from 100-130 bucks depending on how steep the price-drop is when DSi is released.

Excellent. Ya know I wouldn't even care all that much about buying one used. It could even be one of the bulkier, launch units.

I have the original launch unit, and they are built like a tank. The screens are kind of annoying, especially playing in a well lit room...lots of glare and if you are not looking at it dead on, it goes grey. They are perfect to play in a very low light environment which is how I use mine. I don't care about the camera or the media player either, as with a flash cart, it plays all the media you would want anyhow. Bigger and better screens is all I want.

BTW, just checked the price at Gamestop and they (DSi) are going to sell for $169.

Why shouldn't film and game be combined together??...

I remember playing the first MGS and thinking it was just incredible. I loved the cut scenes, they immersed me into the gamplay. As long as its done right it works incredibly well. Which judging by the comments on here seems to be a success.

Each to their own I guess Rob. But I was massivley dissapointed with both Fallout3 and Bioshock, Imo completley over rated.

In fact.. Very few games in the last 5 years have been as good as some of the classics before this time.
