This transcends (sorry) the whole musical argument and can also be used to describe internet users as a whole. Any forum with an established core of regular posters have an 'elite' crowd that pick up on new posters simply for their innocence or downright stupidity in the eyes of experienced users.

Once past the stage where the user thinks their opinion actually is going to change the world; they would usually tend to become much more passive to other people's opinions... until everyone reaches that level of tolerance there will always be the people who blast other genres due to their own closedmindedness (ego).

I'd say 1-2 years after widespread internet use, is when the user would become more passive and accepting. By then the novelty of being able to put your own thoughts to other people without facing consequences has worn off.

how on earth do you know what i like and what i dislike? and besides. i listened to trance before 1998. that's one of the reasons why i never get the hype about 1999 being so special blabla for trance.

I'm sorry, at what point did I say "people shouldn't hate trance now because they once liked it"?

I was merely expressing the fact that a lot of users on here act like they have always been in to techno, deep house or whatever is in vogue at the moment, all the while bashing on trance as ridiculous and crass. I was pointing out that this is a sham and their love for "trendier" genres has probably not always been the case.

haha, i get what you mean, but weird analogy- that's like saying that every trance hater on ta sends hatemail to armin whenever someone makes a thread about ASOT

No, they're more like those people who slate them whenever they come up in conversation. They always sound incredibly bitter, although they're obviously trying not to.

regardless of what the more experienced of members think about trance, i still enjoy the music and am still open about listening to all the trance i can find. i dont care if peoples tastes have evolved over time here leading them to other genres of music, fact of the matter is that if someone changes their musical preference because of some posts on a forum then their passion for that music probably wasn't there in the first place and/or they've moved on over time - like the vast majority of trance bashers here.

really dont know where i was going with this. i think im just explaining the ridiculous amounts of trance bashing on the tranceaddict forums to myself....
