Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I respectfully disagree with his, in this case.

After 17 reviews, it's gotten a 53 at MetaCritic. Looks like it'll be one of those totally divisive flics.

Reviews for this movie are totally worthless. You're gonna have fanboys who love the movie because they love anything Watchmen. You're gonna have fanboys who hate it because it's not the comic book.

Yeah I stopped believing in that after "Transformers"
With the number of fucking brilliant movies coming out pretty regularly I really don't see the point in wasting my time on vastly inferior product.

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li isn't Street Fighter II. Street Fighter II was animated
Take what Clovis says about super hero movies with a grain of salt. He didn't like Iron Man because it wasn't realistic enough
As for Lane, as soon as he started picking the book apart it's clear he has a disdain for comic books in general. He doesn't seem to understand that the entire POINT of The Watchmen was that seemingly ordinary people (no one has powers in the story aside from Dr. Manhattan) find a reason and a duty to become masked vigilantes (not heroes...ass). They become celebrities, a part of American pop-culture...so it's only natural that they're inserted into big events of American history. Then when the law decides that what they're doing actually is illegal they become outlaws, the public that once loved them and trusted them to protect turns on them instantly. Like when Night Owl says to The Comedian, "what happened to the American dream?". Is Lane completely unaware that this book was written in the 80s during the height of the cold war? Of COURSE there's a lot of that Soviet era paranoia in it...that's exactly the point of the whole story!
For the record, if he's going to try and make fun of characters in comic book from 20 years ago...he should really get a Jew to write his material. His jokes are trying...hard.

That has nothing to do with why I didn't like it.

Apologies. You didn't because of how they portrayed terrorists and the US military. Didn't you think it was unrealistic and didn't like the propaganda it spouted?
