My FIRST EVER WMC, and I'm so glad that I finally had the chance to go and experience it myself. I went with several of my friends, and we all went to just about the same shows.
WEDNESDAY - DJ MAG pool party. Easily the biggest disappointment of all since it took us over 3 fuckin' hours to get in. And when we finally DID get in, I was far from impressed. I stayed there just over an hour, and my friends were in there even less than that. The problem had to do with so many people being let in after paying money to the bouncers, even those who DIDN'T have a ticket to start with. Wednesday night at Discotekka made up for it quite well, though. I got to see Kenneth Thomas, Marcus Schossow and Noel Sanger.
THURSDAY - Ferry w/ATB & Breakfast at Cameo. All three of them dropped amazing sets. I had never seen Breakfast or ATB live before so I was especially happy with it. Ferry's set had a couple songs or so I didn't care for but that didn't ruin the experience at all. Amazing times.
FRIDAY - Pete's Pool Party, followed by Swedish House Mafia at Mansion. The pool party was pretty good until we left at about 7 or so to get ready for the other event. I enjoyed the shit that SHM was throwing down, and every one of those guys was really into it. Myself, I left about halfway through because I was tired and I was crushed amongst all the people on the shrunken dance floor. Another gripe: at least 2/3 of the dance floor was taken away because they put in a bunch of VIP couches and tables. That took away from the experience a bit.
SATURDAY - Beatport Pool Party in the day, Sasha at night. The Sasha set really sucked in my mind. So damn bass intensive and the set didn't appear to go anywhere. My eardrums were begging me to leave early, which I did.
SUNDAY - Beatport Pool Party (the last part of it kicked ass), followed by Sander Kleinenberg. I hadn't seen Sander K in over four years, and I came away VERY happy and impressed. A good, strong set of 3 1/2 hours. I didn't get back to my hotel room until close to 6am.
Overall it was a ton of fun, and hopefully by the grace of God (and a favorable monetary situation) I get to go back again next year.
BTW: I planned ahead and took the following five days off from my job after I got back for the sole purpose of rest and recovery.

dont be mad. there was plenty of warnings here. if you didnt follow the advice of vertans, its your fucking bad. so please, stop bitching because you only stayed for an hour. anything for $10 and theres an automatic 'you cant complain' clause. its miami... people pay off the bouncers... get used to it. again there were plenty of warnings about this kinda shit. sorry you suck at doing research.
try again next year. |
I got to the DJ Mag pool party around 1 w/no ticket and a WMC badge and it took 20 minutes if that to get in...and i found out later they were supposedly letting people in w/badges @the end of the st. right away but who knows??

OMG! What can I say..... I HAD A BLAST AT MY FIRST WMC!!! I mainly focused on the trance events, since that's been what I've been into since I was born. lol....
Thursday:
Breakfast, ATB, and Ferry @ Cameo - Amazing nite! I got a chance to shake ATB's hand and say hi. He's a personal favorite since his music is what truly got me into trance. Not to mention that he is nice in person. Breakfast opened the nite, with a crowd still coming into the club. He's definitely one of the future upcoming trance djs to come alongside Sean Tyas and Menno. When ATB came on, he always brings it with "ecstasy." That track drives people CRAZY! lol.. He also played a few new tracks from his upcoming album like LA Nights and the new 9pm remix. If anyone is into the vocal stuff like I am, he knows what types of songs to bring to keep the crowd moving. Ferry too played a sweet set!
Friday:
Ultra 1 - Didn't stay that long b/c I wanted to check out Miami a bit. But I had fun seeing Carl Cox, Swedish House Mafia and a couple others. SHM had the crowd jumping and it was packed as hell! I wanted to stay for Tiesto, but couldn't since I was so drained from the whole day and needed to break for a few hours before heading to Space.
PVD @ Space - Nice nite. PVD came on after 1 (I think) and started off with one of his classic hits. Didn't like the club though, b/c of the layout. It looked very old too and was basically one gigantic floor. Overall, nice nite even though I was tired from Ultra.
Saturday:
Ultra 2 - ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! Markus brought a great set that included daydream. Then ATB came on and continued to move the crowd. I then took a break to check out the other tents. Btw, the food that was sold by vendors were like $10. I went back to check out Above and Beyond, The Prodigy, and a few others at the main stage. The Prodigy sure took a while to setup.
Gatecrashers - Sweet place to check out if your into some old school trance. Jason Vernau, who was a local Miami dj, opened. Then, Dj Tatana, George Acosta, and Filo and Peri. Dj Tatana and George Acosta were amazing! Highly recommend checking them out! The club itself was pretty cool and had other djs like Edgar V playing on the rooftop. Too bad I had to go because of a flight the next morning. Overall, a really fun nite. Got to hang with George Acosta, Tatana, and Filo and Peri, which was a cool experience. Don't know what happened after that. I heard the club got shutdown for some reason.
Overall, it was an amazing experience that brought together the best djs in the world for a week of celebrating EDM. Hopefully, I'll do more pool parties and yacht ones next time I come around. I wanted to meet some ta peeps from this forum, especially ones that are into trance. Anyways, hit me up the next time TA peeps

I was going to say that the food options were better than ever this year. And not everything was $10. I got 3 mini burgers for $5 and they were actually edible. Friday I got chicken fajitas on pita bread for $9. Thats high, but it was really freaking good. I was impressed with Ultra's handling of the vending, except for them running out of vitamin water on saturday afternoon. That junk was good! They had plenty of Smart Water which was fine though. | i didnt see any fresh fruit, which they have had in the past....nothing more refreshing than drinking the water straight out of a coconut
