exactly. this is what drives me nuts about stupid threads like this.
yes, there is good cause to question authority. just because someone is an 'expert' doesn't mean their word is gospel. But WHO and other health officials didn't get to where they are by chance and they can't make decisions based on what happened with SARS or other issues that may or may not be relevant.
It's probably a safe bet that no one here has a fucking clue what goes into true risk assessment for something like this. Mutations may/may not respond to current treatment options, increased air travel making spread so much easier with each passing year, etc.
just becuase the media may blow something of proportion, it doesn't follow that there's NOTHING to be concerned about. I don't know if travel restrictions, shutting down schools, etc. is an overreaction or not. that's why we have public health agencies...to assess and recommend courses of action.
but hey...TAs know best! lol
