When I run out of toilet paper, I have to use my creative brain to improvise. Example: A couple of leaves from the plant.

If that's true then it's not really disk jockying, you're doing live production.

There's nothing creative about playing other people's stuff.

I think most artists that use sample cds like I, mostly use them for drum sounds, not premade leads or harmonic content. Why sit there creating every single drum sound when all I want to do is make a song? When you have a band, they dont make a different drum set for every song they make, that would be rediculous. Honestly, I have never met a producer that uses sampled loops for harmonic content. Even with the Vengeance stuff, I never touch the melodic folders, only hits. I see nothing wrong or unartistic about that.

thats cause once you try it you learn to respect it because it is hard. finding the right tracks to mix is hard. i dunno about you but to me this music is all about mixes.

for instance the Cor Fijneman - Danceroom Live is probably my favorite mix ever.. but ive heard the singles of those trance tracks and i wouldn't touch them.. but the way he mixes them with techno, the tempo he gives them, the transitions... gives them a whole new vibe.

same here but the melodic content vengeance can get out of his cds as demonstrated on the mp3 demos are impressive.

Yes, it is good, but, I just feel weird using it. I did put one song together using it but, I will never show anybody, because the only reason I used it that ONE time, was to teach myself more about arrangement, once I did that, I never touched it again. For the music I make, I think, Veangeance and Xfer are the only decent drum discs, I have tried many, including TP's and many others, even lesser known discs, but most just dont have the sound I am after. I trust my ears, I dont care what the creaters of the discs did to make them, if they sound like they fit, I will use them, and thats that.

I don't have a problem with people ripping other's drum samples, its part of dance music. But if thats what your doing, then drop the price and say that's what your doing. Or even better, admit to being the pirates you are and distribute it free on bit torrent.

My real problem, above all that, is that the samples are unusable. you will NOT get a good quality track out of vengeance samples. They're obvious, no one likes them, they're thieves, and they sound filthy.

Vengeance samples are used extensively in fantastic sounding trance songs currently. A lot of the top producers use them and like them a lot. I heard a fantastic song on trance.nu a couple of weeks ago, asked about the drum samples, the guy said he used Vengeance.

I don't disagree that a lot of the samples are ripped, that a lot of them aren't high quality. But a fair number of them sound great, and the samples are used in fantastic quality productions.

The sample CDs are far from perfect, but they are also not unusable. Let's keep some perspective here.

Well, the tracks may have been great in terms of melody and songwriting, and you may even be able to get away with the clicks lack of decay, and messy highpassed loops in trance. But for the music I'm making now (deep house, tech house, techno) you simply can't afford to have one sound out of place, everything needs to be tight and well thought out. Vengeance can't deliver that quality.
