The Goodmen are Dutch so that's not a surprise, I guess.

yeah I know it was played everywhere. But I can't recall it made drums more popular?

Shortly after Played-a-live over here also many drum bands and shows appeared. Could also be because there are many marching bands in my area. I guess many people including me got more aware of drums, not just only in club tracks.
Also I have seen some drum acts which really impressed me.

At 10 km for where I live, in Kerkrade every four years the World Music Contest (WMC) is held. Lot's of drum bands there. This year it again will take place (9 july - 2 august).
2005: 650000 visitors and 19000 musician from all over the world. A huge event.

By 'gated sound' you mean the way tracks sounds when you stand outside the club waiting to enter right? I love that too.. like when you are in different room but you can still hear the track in muted way.

I wonder if all these drum bands you mentioned would agree that Safri Duo inspired them to start drumming :9

No of course not, but it's known that if something in general is very successful this has an affect on related subjects. I bet many youngster got interested in drums after hearing it.

E.g. when "Barney" won the Embassy (Darts), half the country started playing darts. Would it be maybe typical Dutch to overreact?

I dunno. But I doubt very much that Safri Duo played a big role in terms of starting a "drum trend" or made drums more popular. Speaking of Safri Duo, they turned out to produce some awful pop music later on.

Well to be honest, too many drum tracks short after eachother would start make it annoying, at least for me. I liked Capricorn - 20Hz years earlier too, but not because of the drums, more the atmophere of that track.

I didn't really follow Safri Duo, guess they indeed went awful, so I didn't miss anything, however...
Never heard this one before, but I like the fresh sound of it and the melody, instruments used also sound great: Rise (instrumental) ---->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8Yaut28Vbw

And the version with vocals really SUCKS, less = more in this case for sure --->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXOhFO3xKOk
