It's pretty clear who used to use softsynths, then saved up their money and only got one decent hardware synth.
I love my Virus KC, it does get a lot of use, but so does my NL3, SN2, JP8080, Pulse, and so on. I use whichever synth will give me the sound I'm looking for.
Even if you do have a studio full of great synths (hardware and software), just because you rarely use the other synths doesn't mean the Virus is even usable for a given other producer. No synth is going to please everyone who tries it.

No Virus can make the Roland TB-303 sound...I know a VSTi that can. VSTi are better than virus.
Its simple logic really.

Well, Acidvoice is a website didcated to comparing acid synths [hard and soft] to the real TB303...Virus isn't even considered. So if the virus even does make a half-assed 303 sound, its nothing compared to the 20 or so synths done in the tests at acidvoice.
The bullshit idea that virus can make any sound, is the same reasoning amatures use to say Reason can produce any sound. The end result is an example of how limited people are in their creativity.
Saying virus is the best sound is a direct comparison to saying that wanking your penis is the best sex.

Havn't heard that in a minute! and LOL at how often I used to hear it. Back in the day when I used to dick around, I would program all my sounds in Reason and sequence them in FL3. Reason was daunting then. Now it's laughable |
And yet, some people manage to create fantastic songs with it.

nothing wrong with the intrumenst in reason. id love to have them in another daw. its the efex (except scream and the advanced reverb) and mixer that sucks.

Forgive me for exagerrating, it was a bit too much to say that you'll use "little other than it", as that's not even the case for myself. You'll probably run out of voices in a hurry if you start stacking Virus patches, unless of course you're making really simple ones, in which case sure, may as well just use your preferred VST because you're not actually getting any of the benefits from it anyways.

Sure, my point is just that it's an *extremely* versatile piece of hardware and can make a huge number of unique sounds, and for that reason I don't really see how it could collect dust in someone's studio. I'm actually curious what Storyteller reaches for before his Virus and the when/whys.
