I finally was able to listen to this yesterday evening and it was ok, parts I really liked, and some other tracks I was not into, as you say some of the vocals are a bit much. But Jamie is a great DJ and overall I think he achieved what he wanted here and it's a welcome change, as I said earlier, from DJs playing exactly what you expect of them, ALL THE TIME.

cool. well i never said this set was the first time jamie played it, i even specifically asked when he started playing nu disco because im willing to know. i can only go by listening to recorded sets and for three wow thats weird, had no idea. there is no stupidity in that. i cherish the porno soundtrack and fear it being ringed dry like every other flavor that pops into techno so sue me.

why is that? never understood why you guys care so much about smooth transitions. its mainly the song selection (not cheesy), the flow (what layers well over another and whats a good time for a change up), and pitching the tunes to a good balance for grooviness. in my little world anyway.

Word. Pat Mahoney came here this past summer and I was all pumped for a night of underground and classic disco, stuff like LCD Soundsystem's Fabric mix. And instead he played mostly house, fewer vocals, some Older Chicago house, etc. Still awesome, just not what I expected.

I've said it a million times here, all I care about regarding mixing is that there is some effort and thought involved. Sometimes lazy mixing works. Sometimes you can play records over each other for 4+ minutes. Whatever works at the moment. For that reason judging live mixing at home is sort of difficult.

like you said, sometimes it works. this time it didn't work for me. only thing that saved this mix for me was the music which is grand.
