The only "frustration" I've ever heard expressed from a girl at a trance event (or really any less-mainstream club event) has been over nearly getting gang-raped by the monstrous sausage-fest.

I can actually think of one good reason why so many women aren't that into trance music or producers: they're probably accustomed to the scene being full of hyper-introverted anti-social boys who have these weird warped stereotypical, borderline-misogynystic ideas about girls, and who stubbornly maintain this bizarre pretense of a deep love affair with the music when in reality they're just really high and/or afraid to socialize.

Dance music is about having fun. It's not about staring off into space while imagining yourself to be on a spiritual journey. That's what acid is for.

I love how you just can't wait to take a stab at trance whenever you get a chance.
FYI, when A&B were here last year the split was easily 50/50 and everyone was loving it. So much in fact, that the arena started getting too full because people were leaving other stages (with the likes of Sasha) to go listen to them.

I agree that house seems to draw more women because it is soulful and more funky, but to make such absurd generalisations about trance while debating others is frankly laughable. Drop the hate already. We get it, you don't like modern trance. Have a cookie.

I think instead of putting Trance in the OP, I should have written "techno"

I don't know. Music is very, very close to me. I couldn't live and commit to somebody who wasn't interested in it (the interest can develop as the relationship progresses....i'm not ignorig women for their lack of musical culture in comparison to the world's male population)

I'm the type of person that want my partner to have an important hobby (almost an inspiration, and even if I know it will never happe), I'd want to learn about it and do it with them sometimes even. Painting pictures, Community services. Visiting different places around the world and vacations to places they are very interested in, etc. I guess I am just an unselfish person (and I wish I wasn't.)

Finally I'll leave a quote that that really expressed my approach to things. Much more eloquently than I can for sure.

Who is the happiest of men? He who values the merits of others, and in their pleasure takes joy, even as though 'twere his own. ~Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Here in FL, a decent amount of women do listen to EDM. When I was partying hard 4-5 years ago, lots of people came out to see Ferry, Deep Dish, PVD, etc (on the other side of the coin, a lot less people came out to see lesser known Dj's ie: Dave Seaman and such).

Also mostly in FL, the majority of club music depends on where you club. Examples being: Miami = House, and Orlando = Drum and Bass (and a little bit of breaks), Tampa = FL Breaks. Trance is not so dominant in clubs, unless a 'big' name is going to play.

Yeah true. It's not that if they don't post here that they're not there. Perhaps women tend to less 'remember' tracks or names... That's my impression, though doesn't generally mean a lack of interest I guess.

An interesting thing I've noticed with most women (and of course some men too) is that because they don't always know what track it is, hence don't buy it, they can often get more enjoyment out of the track when they hear it live. A lot of us become overexposed to tracks we like because we listen to sets with them, buy them and also play them out which takes the edge of.

It also makes it harder for them to predict what a DJ is going to play therefore making the event more exciting and unpredictable. I see this is more common with women though it isn't always as clear cut as that.
