babies just don't "sort you out"...the shitload of badly raised children out there speak for that quite immensely. YOU sort yourself out

lol yeah i guess so. thats pretty much what i have to do everyday to get myself out and do things like going to work.. getting my haircut.. doing the shopping. i never thought 3 years ago hat id have to talk myself into doing the most remdial of tasks

show me someone that had their life ruined by meds, and i'll show you someone that took the wrong ones for them and didn't bother to follow up to the doctor with this info, and try another kind.

so thats my life generally in a nutshell right now. im told that having a baby will sort me out, who knows.. maybe it will.. maybe it wont

propranolol is shit. it does nothing. citalopram is also blah. it was like 'yeah, it's not as bad as it was, but what the fuck is the point of it'

Honestly mate you should try doing a few things I have been, it's worked for me. Eating lots of fresh veg/fruit, cut out the booze as much, the fags too if you can, use your mental strength and get some exercise, it'll be painful at first but it's so worth it in the end.

lol you know what ian.. i know exactly what needs to be done.. i know that excercise will sort me out.. but, one of 'my triggers' is having an excessive heart rate and being worried that i cant conrol it, which leads to another panic attack. thats what fucking sucks.. cos ive tried this all before

and make sure you are followed by him/her. You should be popping in the docs every few weeks to keep him up to date and tell him how it is working. Doctors can't know it isn't unless you tell them

I don't take anti depressants at all anymore, but at one point in my life they helped me take control of myself (had quit drugs, flown the coop and so on). It took 3 different meds before i found the right one from me, so just keep motivated and know that there are solutions, and once you find them you will be better off.

You don't have to take these things forever(in most cases).

I know you're not referring to me, but when I told my doctor about what happened he asked if I would like to try with something else and I declined and just continued with therapy for a while. I just don't like meds, I know they can help but I feel like I get more benefit out of a session than with medication.

I know several people who are the same way, and I know others who swear by the meds. Everyone's different.

i wasn't talking about you at all, but by the op's posts it is quite obvious that he needs the help. I know i am not a doctor either.

i took these btw if you want alternative suggestions.

they are great for anxiety (at least were to me) A big factor in preventing panic attacks is learning to tell yourself you are having one and not dying. You could also ask for relaxation techniques (breathing, counting backwards..and so on) that would equip you better.

It took a long time to get better at doing this.

ah well, i have read up on a lot of stuff over the past 2 years and it all makes perfect sense.. but appears to have not worked. ive tried breathing techniques, beta blockers, SRU's, hypnotherapy at $100 a session. but i appear to be no better off.
i know an attack is just an attack and im not dieing, 95% of the time i can stop them from becoming bad ones.
i just cant beat this fucking thing and i dont know why lol
