I persoanlly just think it would be a cool, and pretty functional way to keep DJ's sets organized. And Like I said, if each DJ only gets one thread, then it'll give them some incentive to keep it updated, and maybe make it look cool, and personalize it as well.
To those who might say "oh noo, we'll have all these dj's pages cluttering everything up!" That wouldn't be an issue. Its not like djs are posting a new mix every day...and if they did, thats cool. Realistically, a mix would get posted, and in a week, the thread would fall to the later pages, until that DJ decided to post a new mix in the thread and bump it up.
Lets do it! |
Personally I like the idea of a NYTA mix sub-forum rather than a stickie up top. If such an area was created I actually prefer individual posts for mixes as well (or atleast the choice of doing so), only because I like to promote each mix as unique rather than just another on the pile. I really don't think there would be any more clutter since they would fall away eventually anyways - same as a single thread per DJ would.
For events that's definitely trickier.. I agree with Zack that it would be cool to see more of them in the main forum, but on the other hand I see Z's point that that's entirely subjective and could lead to problems..
One thing that has surprised me is that nobody has brought up the giant ASOT thread which seems to bend all our rules Is it a roll call? Nope too early.. Event listing? Nope not really.. Discussion? umm maybe..? Perhaps this is the way to go then? An event listing in the sub-forum and a single "Discussion" thread allowed in the main that serves for talking, roll calls, and reviews? Just trying to throw out more ideas is all...
EDIT: Oh and I'm definitely all for bringing interviews and articles back, as well as general discussion directed to this community. Posting in the NY board is very different than posting in the main forums - they're really two different audiences entirely. I think now more than ever we're all starting to really recognize and respect that!
