Wow, I've seen that other vid of him jerkin off the knob but I've never seen this one that seems to actually show the laptops running the live music.

Incredible.

if memory serves me correct it was in summer 2005 the first like 2 or 3 hours of his set literally was the one of the worst dj sets i ever heard, but that track you posted sounds sickkkkk so if that was the same night i should have stayed around ha ha

Wow, an example of how to stand on top of the booth like an idiot for over 2 minutes, and a great example of rapture trance. Fantastic.

looks like a terrible time to me.

heres real soul and dancing

from a docu about the northern soul scene - basically the precursor to rave culture. you trancecrackers owe all of your dj worship and all-nighters and drugs to these people.

? everyone should appreciate their forebearers. keep searching for your unicorn.

look at the differences between the two videos in my posts. in the magda video, the only body parts moving for the majority of the video are people's coke-laced hands. Even after the bass drops, people only bounce and pump fists for a short while - by the end of the video people are back to being fashionably dispassionate. Several times during the breakdown you can tell how annoyed the crowd is by the way it blue balls them several times over, and not in an exciting way - their movements collectively stop, awkwardly, and then when another weird mnml sound comes in you see a few hands wave around. There is no rapport amongst the crowd beyond looking in people's sunglass reflections to make sure their headbands are in place. In short, it's contrived.

in the scenes from the wigam casino i posted, those people pour out their energy for the music. The rapport between individuals is visceral, expressive - people are smiling at and vibing off one another. In short, it's awesome.

I know that you have a lot of knowledge about the early house and techno scenes and about dub music, and even music in general. I sincerely admire you for that, but bragging about such knowledge and tell us how we're all noobs seems to be the only thing you ever do here in MD these days. I'm pretty sure that's what enydo meant with that comment.

I get what you're saying and I don't even disagree with you, but I'm sorry. The way you run around on here proclaiming things and pretentiously talking down to everyone rubs people the wrong way, you catch enough flak for it already. I don't even fucking like that Magda video, I think it's just as stupid as you do. I guess I do like a fair bit of old trance, so I'll just keep searching for my unicorn, whatever the fuck that is supposed to mean.

I think you're a fantastic DJ, you have great taste in music, you're well-spoken, you've got strong opinions, and you know how to express them; but I also feel this ties into you looking like a complete jackass on here half the time. It is just "tranceaddict" so whatever, but you act as if you've done no wrong half the time, or you overreact to something like my post above, which was half-serious. It was a joke.

Yes, the way they are dancing in that video is great, the energy there is fantastic and I wish it was something I could experience. Sadly, that type of situation is hard to find now, especially here in Atlanta where the art and "scene" is, I'm sure, miles below your artistically mature Manhattan. Anyways, I'm just rambling at this point and being a little rude. What I mean to say is, lighten-up. It's just an internet forum. You have a lot of people here who respect and agree with you, and a huge amount of people who do not and will not. I am one of the former, even if I choose to poke a little fun at your attitude. You're passionate and I get that, but don't run around on here acting as if we all have some huge lesson to learn.
