look at the differences between the two videos in my posts. in the magda video, the only body parts moving for the majority of the video are people's coke-laced hands. Even after the bass drops, people only bounce and pump fists for a short while - by the end of the video people are back to being fashionably dispassionate. Several times during the breakdown you can tell how annoyed the crowd is by the way it blue balls them several times over, and not in an exciting way - their movements collectively stop, awkwardly, and then when another weird mnml sound comes in you see a few hands wave around. There is no rapport amongst the crowd beyond looking in people's sunglass reflections to make sure their headbands are in place. In short, it's contrived.
in the scenes from the wigam casino i posted, those people pour out their energy for the music. The rapport between individuals is visceral, expressive - people are smiling at and vibing off one another. In short, it's awesome. |
I get what you're saying and I don't even disagree with you, but I'm sorry. The way you run around on here proclaiming things and pretentiously talking down to everyone rubs people the wrong way, you catch enough flak for it already. I don't even fucking like that Magda video, I think it's just as stupid as you do. I guess I do like a fair bit of old trance, so I'll just keep searching for my unicorn, whatever the fuck that is supposed to mean.
I think you're a fantastic DJ, you have great taste in music, you're well-spoken, you've got strong opinions, and you know how to express them; but I also feel this ties into you looking like a complete jackass on here half the time. It is just "tranceaddict" so whatever, but you act as if you've done no wrong half the time, or you overreact to something like my post above, which was half-serious. It was a joke.
Yes, the way they are dancing in that video is great, the energy there is fantastic and I wish it was something I could experience. Sadly, that type of situation is hard to find now, especially here in Atlanta where the art and "scene" is, I'm sure, miles below your artistically mature Manhattan. Anyways, I'm just rambling at this point and being a little rude. What I mean to say is, lighten-up. It's just an internet forum. You have a lot of people here who respect and agree with you, and a huge amount of people who do not and will not. I am one of the former, even if I choose to poke a little fun at your attitude. You're passionate and I get that, but don't run around on here acting as if we all have some huge lesson to learn.
