I have a few girlfriends who treat this as some sort of catastrophe.
If we just have plans to go out for coffee - for no reason other than to talk - and something important comes my way, I don't hesitate to cancel and reschedule the coffee/chat meet-up.
I don't get offended if a friend has something important going on and can't meet up with me to shoot the shit - I expect the same on the other end.

Most of my girlfriends now are almost 30 and it just suits my life so much better.
I've lost contact with a lot of girlfriends who are my age because of the high-maintenance friend factor
