No, no, no.... on average the stuff you buy in stores has been sitting on a dock roasted and ground for 2-3 months before it gets to your store. The key to great coffee is to have it as soon after roasting as possible and to grind it immediately before brewing. Your best bet is to find a supplier locally that roasts their own beans (make sure they're air cooled not water cooled) and get yourself a grinder (burr is better but $$$). In Toronto I recommend Gold Star Coffee (despite the fact that they don't carry my favorite variety... Ethiopian Yirgacheffe).
