Even I can make music by thought alone. There is an infinite array of sounds to choose from, you just need to think them into existence. Likewise people who actually make music know what notes they hear or think.
You just place yourself as a know nothing.
Pianos play like pianos that is my point. You want to test how music sounds you play it with what is suppose to play it.
Pianos have a very limited wavform thus when you play your composition on a piano it sounds nothing like the composition will sound in an orchestra. It is a crutch for halfrates and people who don't have the resources or creativity. Nothing wrong with that, but it is.
Composition is in the mind. Tools just allow it to be transcribed easier.
