Kismet try this and tell me that 4khz is less annoying than for instance 250hz on the same volume.

Like I said...if you passed 7th grade reading...and could comprehend the thread...we have'nt been talking about sounds that are of equal volume here. A kick will often be higher in volume than your average 4khz sound in a dance track. I dont know if your brain can process that info, but if it can, do take it account before furthur throwing up in this thread like an illiterate troll. I mean you got Beatflux agreeing with you...that alone should tell you that you are off a bit.

Ultimately if you eq out the kick or drop it in volume while arranging the track, the average volume of the track also goes down, which a net positive effect on your hearing, and your hearing of other parts of the mix. Its a mystery how you trolls are defending something which you havent shown any practical value towards mixing a dance track, while i've done that from the start. But hey this is the internetz...where senseless trolls gather and need to judge and disagree with something.

That was my thinking from the get-go. Your situation definitely sounds more like some sort of acute infection, not chronic hearing degradation. But, I'm certainly no expert here, so follow the good advice and go get that checked out by a doctor. Your hearing is a priceless commodity. Hope it gets better soon.

Since about a week ago, sounds in my left ear have been muffled, like someone put a low pass filter on it and turned down the volume a bit. Listening to music is very annoying because everything feels a bit lopsided. There is also a dull, nearly constant pain, but it is only mildly irritating, not strong enough that I feel the need to take anything. Wondering what might be going on, though.

I have no allergies at the moment and no other signs of cold or other sickness, and I don't remember being exposed to any especially loud sounds recently. I am seeing a doctor tomorrow about something unrelated to this, so I suppose I will ask her what she thinks.

Anyone else have hearing scares, or even permanently damaged hearing from illness or noise?

No problem m8. I think you just got yourself a very dirty ear. Go to the docter and they'll clean it for you

Ear wax has build up and completely blocked your ear channel. It can hurt if it's really deep. Once it's clean, your hearing will be fine.

what a thread. kismet your wrong. female vocals are the most damaging, and thats like that due to evolution, its one of their many secret weapons to control us. man i have more tired ears after being to a cafe/restaurant than being in a club, eventhough the SPL diff is probably 1000dB. sub sounds make u only sleepy.

You're not funny nor witty. I blame evolution.
