I don't understand what you guys stand to earn by discrediting M4B. I'm getting kind of tired of sticking up for him when you guys clusterfuck him with your whining over his ego or self-centeredness, and I really don't want to seem like I'm sucking up to him since I stand to earn absolutely nothing from doing so, but you guys are seriously delusional if you think M4B actually causes more harm than good.

Where the hell are you guys when any thread about theory or production comes up? M4B has a concise, thorough answer to virtually any legitimate question that's asked here. He formed a contest with his own money to encourage you guys to step out of your comfort zone as producers. And you guys get all touchy because he thinks highly of himself in comparison to us, who are a bunch of clueless, bottom-feeding bedroom producers with a couple of moderately successful musicians tossed in. You get pissed off because his sense of humor might be distasteful at, say, a funeral or a wine-tasting convention, but here on the grand old internet the things he says aren't even remotely shocking.

He was a wealth of knowledge in a giant pile of amateurs who are desperately trying to acquire it, and you guys decide that fart jokes and a well-deserved ego are just way too fucking hard to put up with in exchange for extensive musical knowledge that he's always been willing to share with us. Like he said, he gets absolutely nothing out of this site other than a way to waste time, so of course he's not going to take absolutely everything seriously like some of you try so fucking hard to do.

Sorry for the Robbie post, I hate ranting, but this seriously needs saying. You guys have the most vapid sense of humor I've ever seen on the internet before, I don't know what the hell causes it but you guys need to get your heads out of your asses. This thread directly addressed M4B with a stupid question and you guys preceeded to mock and insult him because he gave a legitimate answer that you didn't want to hear.

God I fucking hate you guys sometimes.

So just because it's the internet, and everyone else does it, makes it OK?

When I was a noob producer I had a group of internet friends studying music production (at Berklee amongst other places) who helped me out without ramming their credentials down my throat at every opportunity. Neither were they abusive in critiquing my stuff. They're now producing for film and TV, one ghost-writes for a massive name, and another has just signed a 3 album deal with a major label - but you wouldn't know it, because they are humble and don't scream about it in people's faces all the time.

I really don't care how much he knows, it's totally irrelevant.

So someone who constantly helps other people out here is inherently a bad person because he doesn't sugar-coat his criticism? He works in an industry where I'm sure his own work has been shot down in pretty abrasive ways. How can you blame him for not beating around the issues that he points out in other peoples' music?

As for the ego I cannot believe that anyone actually gets that touchy over someone actually thinking highly of themselves. I don't know if it's insecurity or jealousy or whatever the issue is but get the fuck over it. The guy is fucking successful. If he feels like reminding you guys of that because you are CONSTANTLY trying to call his experience meaningless, then let him.

And as far as the internet is concerned, yes, the fact that abrasive humor is extremely commonplace makes me think you guys are acting out of line for overreacting to it, not the other way around. You're all adults, you should probably start learning how to ignore trivial bullshit and just take the good from people like him instead of going on with the unbelievably boring pedantry that typically goes on around here.

There are times when he's out of line, I understand that, but he's done more to make up for it than anyone else here. Why you guys think the countless times he's helped us out when we need it is suddenly irrelevant is beyond me.

Somewhat OT, but if you guys ever want to see some REAL arrogance (usually from people without the experience, knowledge, or talent to back it up), go hang out at gearslutz for a few days.

I don't have an issue with being blunt at all. It't the only way to improve, no doubt about that. Anyway, I stick to what I've said.

Why is this making you so mad though? If he can give out stick, he should be able to take a little.

lol really most here will agree if honist making cool tunes to listin to and watch go of in a club is the main reason for producing in the first place.

i dont think you can class ta an academic music site and this is where people like mfb gets his problems by rubbing people up the wrong way.

i think in retrospect a private pm to anyone you would very much like to get any advice from is the way to go i guess thoe this is the production forum where ideas and insights are ment to be shared

Lol! Future Producers is the place to go to hear the worst bedroom producer music on the web, have you seen that place?

Try living with 9:1 ratio of arrogance to talent.

I've done it and it's fucking insufferable.

(And I don't think it's OT because M4B could put his money where his mouth was.)

Oh, and his contest was ACE, too!!

And Keysora +1

This thread does have me a little ticked off, about now.

Because you guys are insulting and forcing out someone because of trivial, irrelevant shit that you guys choose to focus on instead of the massive amount of help he's offered. To me, that's completely unjustifiable and unfair.

Similar to what's he's done to several noob producers who've had their first ever posts here ripped to shreds, in a very unkind way, by him.

I think his competition was a very generous gesture, and he does help people out - I don't hate him FFS.

Let's all chill out

I've done the same thing. In almost every case, however, it's because the new producers presented themselves with a ridiculous amount of ego while offering very, very little in the way of substance.
