Apples and oranges. Touch Osc is very flexible, not to mention much cheaper, but VCPro is a dedicated control surface that is ready to go right out of the box and gives you access to features of PT that Touch Osc can't access. OTOH Touch Osc accesses MIDI parameters, where VCP doesn't.

No, not yet. The problem is that I have a laptop that I used for a lot of programs that aren't available for an ipad. Even thought the music apps such as the one you posted are very interesting, it would lack in so many other areas I'd still have to lug around my laptop for work etc.

Maybe ipad 3 will open things up a little but I'm still on the fence.

Yeah, you'd definitely have to use this with your laptop (or desktop). In the most basic sense, all that VCP (and similar apps like AC-7) really do is get your hands off your mouse. But, for me, that's actually a big selling point. I've been using this for mixing and tracking. It's amazing what you can do with it - select tracks, change inputs, inserts, sends, control plugins, zoom in/out, call up different windows and tools, insert markers, loop points, and, of course, all the transport controls. I would think that in the case of a laptop, it would be nice to have one of these parked next to it to give you control over your console/mixer view without having to see it on your laptop monitor (i.e., save your screen real estate for the track edit view).

you are misinformed regarding touchosc not able to access features. Isuppose you do need to a know a bit of programming but it is just so much more flexible. touchosc can display all the values of each plugin, each fader pretty much everything on the ipad including name and its value.

That's entirely possible. I'm referring to features like calling up the different edit modes (e.g., grid, slip, etc.) and specific tools and windows, zoom in/out in PT from the iPad app, etc. When I tried to figure out if/how to do some of that in TouchOSC, it looked to me like a lot of that could not be done. So, maybe I am wrong and it can be done by someone who knows what they're doing.
