ya Australia has wicked DJ's!! Nik Fish is really good. And that set by DJ Chester I found on DJ Mixes 2k a while back was one of the best sets I have ever heard.

The USA is definately not one of them. Most people I know, don't know what TRANCE is. They think that if its not rap or r+b its TECHNO, and it must suck. That is until I play a good TRANCE cd, and they love it, and ask me who it is. Then when I tell them they go WHO? At least the top dj's still come here.

In fact, Belgium got lots of trance lover, but there isn't enough events. We got lots of Techno here (I Love Techno, Kozzmozz, Fuse,...), but it starts to change. Just watch the line up of the events that are coming up... Illusion 15years -> Tiesto, Tall Paul, Sister Bliss,.... Brussels is Burning -> Mauro Picotto, Judge Jules, Marco V, Push,...

So something seems to change in our little country! We just need more trance clubs (cause we got enough hardstyle clubs cherry moon, h2o,... they all kick asses but like 1% of trance)

But for me, Holland is n°1 and UK n°2

Here is the most common response we'll get over here in the states: "Hey I want to listen to some techno!" Everyone over here refers to any form of electronica music as "techno". If you say anything like progressive, trance, house, etc. they won't have a clue as to what you're talking about. Everyone's idea of "techno" is Darude, DJ Encore, Ian Van Dahl, and think that ALL of the stuff sounds like that...

Over here, as everyone has said, rap and R&B are the biggest things among kids/teens and of course the typical pop stuff like Celion Dion and Shania Twain. I actually, myself don't mind Barenaked Ladies and Sum41 and stuff like that, hehe.

valid. and Tower Records too, until it died.

don't you ever listen to rumours, mate. especially for good news

Sure, we might not get world-renowned events like Loveparade or Mayday or Innercity...Or get 3-5 world-class DJ's on a weekly basis like Gatecrasher does, but hey, we're not that bad off.

i say it's not that bad but it still has a long way to go, comparing to Europe. take London for example: "Every issue of Time Out has weekly club listings that could pass for the who's who of DJs; every corner pub has a pair of turntables tucked behind the bar; Pete Tong's Friday-night Essential Selection dance countdown on Radio One is a must-listen; and even the Virgin Megastore boasts a huge selection of vinyl for DJs." (quoted from, uhh, Rolling Stone ) and i can easily name three mega clubs: Ministry of Sound, Cream, Gatecrasher. that is where you can eat, sleep and breathe trance, me thinks.
