Insurance: Gieco
State: NY
car: Honda Civic
Amount: $800 for 6 months.

I gotta take a defensive class to lower it or just change insurances. Seems pretty high

I got tickets recently:
1. Stop sign lowered to a parking violation
2. Speeding but out of state and paid on time

I'm sure those should not of affected it unless otherwise.

I'm currently insured under my inlaws' policy...they have a fleet policy for their business and I'm covered on their family vehicles. I didn't have the correct information when I got my quote, so I'm hoping that might make a difference. If not, w/e. I can wait a year to see if I can get a reduced rate.

I have no idea whether my rates are good or not. Probably not since I always manage to get a bunch of tickets for trifling stuff (10 mph over the limit, expired plates, expired inspection, blah blah blah).

Dude expired plates and inspections are 100% avoidable tickets. Don't give me an excuse of "well I couldn't afford it" because thats just going to put you into more shit. Putting off stuff that is only going to more than likely rack up costs later is not a smart move.

I wonder if the defensive driving courses have a good cost/benefit from it. I mean if the course is $400 bucks (for example), how long would it take your premiums to go down to outweigh that initial investment? a year? 2 years? 10?
