Actually, it did have a positive impact:

• It grabbed the attention of American senators, who have some political power to do something about it;
  
• It also gave unprecedented support to the ongoing effort to catch Kony, which is definitely a positive change.

But that's the problem. Sure it allows the media to show 'we got the bad guy'. But there are still lot of other bad guys out there and because they didn't get a youtube video made about them they are still free to do bad things.

Srsly? You do know that Congress had the worst approval ratings in US history and passed less bills than the do-nothing Congress of the Truman era? Hardly positive.

That's great except, the ultimate goal of catching Kony and bringing him to justice hasn't been met. In fact I doubt they're anymore closer to finding him than they were before.

I'd have thought that doing something, while being utterly unable to do anything else, was a good thing (even if it would be better if they stopped bickering and worked more... really, can't you guys tell your congress to shape up or ship out?).

Only time will tell. The US had a hard time going after Bin Laden, lest we forget, and that took quite a while.

I agree with you there. However, it's not like they could go after everyone at once, and not being able to sort everything out shouldn't be a reason for doing nothing at all. Wouldn't you say so?

As for the priorities, personally, I believe we should go after the people involved in the creation of Crocs. That's akin to genocide, methinks!
