All i know is, I seem to be able to find plenty of decent psy albums, I seem to be able to find decent psy sets (if I download 5 and discard 3 of them immedietly it's not really that much effort) and when I go out to psy stuff it's very rare the music that's played is shit.

Really depends on what you mean by "usually" I guess(what types of tracks and albums are you looking at? where do you discover them?).

Also, generally with this thread, there just aren't enough posters in it, the opinions on psy are pretty obvious by any particular poster after usually one post, and if no one's asking for recommendations or has an interesting discussion topic this thread is going nowhere.

I mean I could start a discussion on psy vs darkpsy and whether darkpsy is the next big thing, but hardly anyone on here would even be remotely knowledgeable apart from "I listened to some darkpsy once and didn't like it"

Slow down. We're not talking about tracks and albums. We're talking about hearing the same full-on bassline for the entire night, so I'm clearly talking about psy trance parties. There are, of course, plenty of brilliant musicians and producers in the psy scene, but from my personal experience, the majority of psy trance parties involve the same full-on sound all night, with the same heavy bassline from track to track. And most people I talk to have the same experience. And I just find that boring, especially because most of the psy nights I've been to have almost no programming to their line-ups: it's almost identical stuff all night, start to finish. You're clearly a massive psy fans, but those of us who aren't don't find such unerring repetition "hypnotic", we just find it dull.

I have literally banned myself from listening to Ovnimoon. You have to take into account that I am (or at least that I was) a submissive person, which means that I used to give a lot of tries to tracks that I initially didn't enjoy but that were either hailed as good or appeared to be complex (like most of Ovnimoon's stuff). So what I did with Ovnimoon's tracks is that I played the shit out of them -- like billions of times (I'm exaggerating of course, but you get my point) -- and they did nothing for me. Unfortunately, they did a lot against me -- they literally made me DESPISE psytrance music altogether. I have only now come to realize that I should never really force a track to grow on me, but for most of my life that's what I've been doing, and that's exactly why I almost decended into fucking nihilism.

Thankfully, I'm now recovering from this, and it's only as a way to speed up my recovery that I decided to ban myself from checking out anything Ovnimoon-related.

This has left me thinking why other people enjoy his music? Why is noone out there warning people of how terrible his music is? It's shit. Shit, shit, shit, worst piece of music ever created. I cannot think of anyone enjoying this crap other than fucking hipsters.

This is not to say that there is no good psytrance (there is) but Ovnimoon is an equivalent of Jackson Pollock lol (actually, most of psy/goa trance is, but let's not get into that discussion now).

We have to warn the people of the evils that these modern "prog"psy inventions are.

Haha. I still think Vibration Of Peace is a great track, though.

I've dabbled into some psytrance and progpsy here and there, found and kept a few that I've really enjoyed, but for the most part I'm bored with it today. As been said before, hearing that same full-on bassline all night long would be very tiring, even under the influence of psychedelics. I would definitely need a change in both beat structure and tempo to stay interested. That's why I still very much like psybient and psy-dub stuff. Now there's a few sub genres that I could spend 3-4 hours listening too. Few of my picks for this year:

As far as psy trance goes, Twisted pales in comparison to the impact of Blue Room Released. The back catalogue speaks for itself, but X-Dream - Radio is perhaps the best example of just how influential the label was, and for a much longer period of time.

If anything, Twisted has had much more of an impact on the dub/downtempo strain that would develop from the genre later on via its releases from OTT, Shpongle and Younger Brother.

Don't know, never listened to Planet B.E.N before. I just played the track that was posted by Rebel9 and sounded amazing to me
