Re: Electric Zoo Transportation Input

(Arriving too early I've waited in line for 45 minutes) Coming back from the island, it's about a 40-65 minutes. Is it better to stick to the ferry or take the shuttle bus??

I just wanted some input from some experienced riders. Thanks all

Dee

The shuttle is just over the bridge, takes 5 minutes, arrives frequently. On the way there it's all good.... on the way back you will have dozens of sweaty stank partygoers piling up on each other in the same sardine can crammed bus (unless you leave before the last act).

It only takes 5 minutes?? WOW!! That's AMAZING!! It just might be worth it for that reason alone! When coming back via ferry, you have much of the same thing....only difference is people are pissed off because it's taking so long.

Weelllll it only takes five minutes IF you get there early AND there isn't a flustercluck of traffic. My first day on the bus was great, short ride. Second day? There was a traffic jam and after sitting on a bus with no AC fpr 15-20 minutes, I got out and walked from just past the bus area to EZ. It took about 30 minutes but I got there eventually by foot. I think I even beat the bus there.

I did the ferry in 2010 and it was awesome. However, I left from a port on the UES (which is not available anymore apparently) and was able to park for free in the UES in the 80's and walk to the pier. Now, I believe the only port on the ES that is open is in the 30's.

I drove there the first year. Got there early. Got the best spot right across from the entrance gate and the price wasn't so bad for parking all day and most of the night.....now, that same spot is considered vip parking and costs like double or triple the already outrageous fee.

I heard some people were parking on the other side of the park near the fields but they now caught onto that and tow your car. Never took the ferry but didn't hear many complaints about it.

As for the bus...on the way off the island there was an accident and a traffic jam so by the time the bus arrived they weren't allowing it to move for like another 20 mins and they decided to reverse the line to get on, so those waiting the longest got on last. Yea I prob could have walked and got there faster.

I take the ferry to the island because it's much more enjoyable IMO, even though it takes a little bit longer but the sun and cool water breeze during the trip make up for it.

Leaving is another story lines to the ferry are long so the wait is long. if without a car and feel like walking a bit, the best solution I found was to walk across the bridge to Bronx and take the 6 train (or whatever green line runs there) downtown and get home/or elsewhere from there.

it depends on where you're coming from and what day you're going
last 2 years i went on the weekend and i found a spot on one of the sideblocks in harlem. i think it was like 123 or 122 street.
there was no meters and no street cleaning from there its a 20 min walk

I'm gonna go since it's the most convenient festival for where I live (Suffolk County) and the drive in isn't that bad at all. I'm hoping we get some good deep, tech and prog house guys in the Sunday School tent, since I find as I get older, that's where I spend the most of my time. Even with all the neon kiddies and hearing the same songs from the main stagers over and over again I still have a blast every year.
