TA has been about parroting what RA thinks is cool for several years at this point. It is too much work to follow this music without having somebody curate it for you so I don't blame them. We've always been a bunch of hipsters abusing every young fan that dares to find their way here.
The list has some decent stuff in it though, but I can feel the pretentious vibe in so much of it, and it really has this "droney" quality that I'm not a fan of.
These lists in general are kind of silly, but I guess without them our fanbase would be scattered far and wide to their niche artists of choice, nobody gaining enough notoriety on their own to fill a club and get booked. We'd spread our love so thin that the markets would die if we didn't have these folks reigning everyone in periodically. The trick seems to be getting into a position where you can tell other people what they think is cool, then you'd be making some money.
