It's not that I wanna support this guy on his statements.
I completely understand what he means, I know the days where Marco Bailey - sniff made the dancefloors explode.
Music evolved, it became a more appreciated kind of sound loved by millions instead of thousands. But it doesn't mean that it's crap nowadays.
OK, there IS a lot of crap but the way you and me and everyone listens to music NOW is different then back then.
It's all about money, the more money u want, the larger your public should be.
And if u want a larger public, the sounds u make must be easier in the ears.
Why u think top 50 tunes are top 50 tunes?
The tunes are made to reach a mass of people.
Tunes that everyone loves.
Why does my father like 4strings - into the night and not decepticons - eastern promise.
Because it's easier in the ears...
The whole thing around trance will never be the same then before, that's why u have to switch to progressive and "techno" to get the feeling from back in the days.
Techno completely brings u the underground sound

yeah it's definately evolved, the tracks nowadays sound far more 'professional' than the older tunes, with Li Kwan - point zero being the major exception to the rule.
and 4 strings do suck, they're the new fragma

Mate u just said 4strings suck...
I know why you say that...because your friends listen to it (who dont know anything about trance, it's on tv, it's on radio etc...)
I'm 100% sure 95% of the people on this board found it completely awsome when they first heard it (including me, I'm not ashamed to say this, why should I?)
U juest feel to elite for that kind of music now(it's not that the music is bad, it's everything around it that makes it bad), u see, no offence here, just wanne make something clear.
This guy feels himself to elite to stuff like PVD etc...
I should feel too elite for trance since for me progressive is much better (I don't feel elite because I was in the other stages too and know what u other people think about "that" music, I liked it too, even now but on a lower degree).
Techno fans feel too elite and bash trance.
Hardcore fans feel too elite and bash trance.
and so on...
It's some kind of neverending hierarchie.
The thing is that most people can't appreciate other places on the hierarchie.
Only when u have been on all the places on the hierarchie U can critisise on another one, but you should show respect for the other's too because u was in that stage too before.
(man I sound like the messiah now, so I quit my post here)

your making an awful lot of assumptions there TS
I've NEVER liked 4 strings (Daytime was a shitty Airwave rip off, altho the free state mix is good), I deleted into the night after 2 listens (something which I very rarely do). I don't like fragma either, didnt' like Toca me, or Toca's miracle, or any of the shitty sound alike follow ups. I dont like PvD much either. I don't mind about commercialism, I mind about quality, and when it comes down to 4 strings and fragma etc... theres no originality in there stuff, diving is a blatant rip off of into the night.
I agree about the Elitism factor tho, and the "progressive elite" do piss my off to an extent as well (and I like progressive a lot, I listen to it a fair bit). If your stuck listening to music from one timeframe your always going to end up thinking your elite, as everyone else passes you by, and xfer is just bitter cos he doesn't like the stuff thats coming out now. He may well be bitter, but theres no need to bitch about it on a forum in which the majority of peeps have never heard of the stuff he's posted, and never will due to his retarded (and I mean that in every sense of the word) attitude.
bleh rant over

i don't care if you like PvD, Corsten, Tiesto...or hate them, but doing stupid shit like proclaiming that you know what real trance is, and the stuff made by todays artists is shit (in a way, i agree) is complete arrogancy Music evolves...back in 2000, Cass & Slide - Perception (Vocal mix) would be considered progressive...nowadays I'll call that trance. You're too stuck up on living in the past and coming off as a person desperate for attention, trying to "teach" us what trance is. You like those songs, thats fine...I could care less, but making stupid comments that todays trance is for "e-heads" is the stupidest shit I've ever heard. I don't see where you could pull a statement like that from And just to make it clear, I think 2002's trance is crap, and as I've said numerous times, 1996-2000 had the best tunes. Nowadays its getting too formulaec (sp??) and there's not as much originality and emotion put into it. Still, there are some nice tracks...

Oh, and just a little hunch I have...I'm pretty sure that your opinion on Xpander will be a negative one.

I dont care who you guys like, nor do I care what you think about the songs. Everyone's opinion is different and it should be left at that. What if I said that my favorite trance song was some "commercial" song or something? Oh well, who cares? It doesn't mean it has to be your favorite. The point is people have opinions and if everyone thought the same that would be wack and I'd kill myself...

PS: Mos Man, the j in your sig is pinner... please roll fatter joints
