From the videos I've watched on pickup technique, it does seem like if you want to be good with girls it helps a lot if you have lots of female friends and socialise with them a lot. IMO this would naturally involve some of their traits and emotionally rubbing off on you, like you'd become more sensitive and stuff like that.

Personally I've been attempting to immerse myself in the things that the kinds of girls I'm interested in are interested in. At the very least so that I have lots in common with them and there's lots to talk about. I found that in particular changing the sort of music I listen to changed my emotional patterns. In general doing some mirroring in other words.

and they're both much more feminine acting than I am. Personally I try to sometimes act in ways similar to what girls are like but more dominant and edgy. It's also pretty common among my friendship groups to really not like gay culture, the campness and superficialness of them is really annoying and I'd like to hope that there's ways that guys can act feminine without acting like gay culture. The sorts of girls I like tend to act a lot like guys sometimes as well, I guess it's a sort of de fact androgyny encouraged by alternative/emo/goth culture(s). (Some) Girls think the way me and similar people dress is edgy anyway, it's seen as rebellious to dress in a way that would be seen as unpopular by mainstream culture, that includes wearing things like eyeliner that are traditionally seen as girly. For instance the reference below includes a quote from a girl about how hot seeing a guy in a skirt is and why. I wouldn't wear skirts though that's too far.
