32. Silhouette meaning trainers. As a stingy hypebeast (if such a thing exists), I like reading about sneakers I'll never buy but, for crying out loud, there are so many words you can use instead of "shoes". Silhouette isn't one of them, stahp!

My favourite mispronunciation is a friend of mine who got laughed at by his classmates in DC for saying a hyperbole was a hyperball

I'm a native speaker and my first attempt came out hyper-bowl, which also elicited much mirth.

But don't you love the word sneaker. It's got to be least pretentious word I can think of. Besides it sounds like what it is.

Ugh, "sneaker".

It sounds like what it is? Like footwear for paedos?

It's a fucking pair of trainers.

How about phrases? I'm already fucked off by the phrase "fake news", along with the implications it carries in regards to the future of a free press.

I've just read an article claiming that white people using the word "bae" is cultural appropriation. I rest all of my cases.

I can't tell you how relieved I am to hear that. How about a white Vans?

But I do have an unhealthy obsession with Asics, in particular Kayano and Nimbus SNEAKERS.

It is paedo when you say "it describes what they do" - i.e. I wear them becuase they allow me to sneak (up on children).

Actually, I'm with you on this one. At the moment I cannot switch on the fucking TV without either the news talking about "Fake News" and eveytime there's some minor slight against trump (SNL ratings, Popularity Polls, Muslim Ban being unpopular etc etc etc) it's apparently fake news.

In fact if we were to believe it all, there's so much fake news and there isn't actually any real news. Just alternative news lol.

Actually, I'll side with both of you. "Trainers" makes a lot of sense because you wear them to do sports, but sneakers is also a logical choice because the rubber sole doesn't make a sound (as opposed to the usual leather shoe). That's where the word comes from. For real

Was it the Guardian?

I love the Guardian, both for the great journalism and for these "say what now!?" articles. Best five pounds I pay every month

We've been talking about them too (see "cultural appropriation" above). Anyway, I think we've been targeting the left a bit much, so let's be fair and focus on some phrases that have actually been used for evil.

287. White Genocide: Need I explain why? And it's still going on, Breivik, that unhinged mass murderer from Norway, firmly believes it's a thing. And he killed people because of that. So, yeah, someone kill this phrase before a deranged imbecile kills someone again
