Oops
Well, I've been quite busy because of my off-line life (university and many other stuff), which is why I'm not regularly posting here (nor using IM's) and my projects (such as this guide and my trancestep tunes) are "paused"
Once everything is sorted, I'm gonna work again on this map/guide (I've got all the raw material here: 120 pages of notes in MS Word and a massive amount of sound samples), but I need to organise everything while I find a reliable place to host such comprehensive guide.
There still several genres missing in that 1st post and that I'm going to add (like Noise, Power Electronics and other stuff that goth TA's and Acid Junkie told me about), not to mention that I'm still trying to find room to place "Hardstyle" somewhere in the map (I'm taking "hardstyle" as some kind of "Hard Melodic Trance" - if this definition is wrong, feel free to correct me ).
I'm hopefully finish this thing in 2004/2005. If you're wondering why it's taking so bloody long, here are my plans for the guide:
- Brief description of (almost) every sub-genre: I've been collecting info about all these genres, so a clueless noob will know that such thing like "Instantaneous Combustion" does not happen with music, and everything is linked. This is why it's taking so bloody long...
- Sound Samples: What's the point of reading about music if you don't know what kind of music you're reading about? However, this is going to be somewhat different from Ishkur's guide because of one simple detail: I'm gonna try to keep the pages as simple as possible so 56k'ers will have no problems... and it means that, instead of flash files, I'm gonna work with html and real audio streaming. Besides, I used to work with Flash 3, and I can't be arsed to learn about this Action Script thing they added in the MX version since I've got other things to study

- Simplified maps: I'm aware of how confusing this map I posted is. Since this guide is supposed to be helpful and I do have a mother, I'm gonna make things easier for the noobs adding simplified maps (one for house music, another for drum'n'bass, and so on). Keep in mind that this draft I posted is like "a map of the whole country" and, if you're interested in just one area, there'll be a better map for you. In fact, I guess I'm gonna simplify this general map soon.
- Search Engine: I reckon it would be handy
This is another reason why I chose working with html.
- Unbiased (?) Descriptions: This is, by far, the hardest thing to do. Although my inner self tells me to bash Psytekk and hail the greatness of the greatest trance producers ever, I'm gonna try to keep it down so both clueless noobs and narrow-minded elitists can learn something from it without being offended (well, just a bit
). Besides, Ishkur's done a proper job with it, so there's no need for me to come up with yet another review of every genre out there.
- E-book version: If you want to download the guide, it'll be available as an e-book in pdf format. This way, you can print the whole thing and brag/show off telling your dates that you read in a book that Paul Van Dyk's real name is actually Matthias Paul. Mint, innit?
- Grammar check: Since English is not my native language, I'm bound to make mistakes every now and then, then I'm gonna add this feature so you guys can abuse me whenever I do somefing wrong

For those of you to whom I promised the map: I will send you guys it if I ever finish it Promise
I guess that's all I've got to say after one year... well, gotta go back to my studies now.
Feedback is welcome
