vinyl -> shit

Vinyls are really making a sound that none of digital media can produce..BUT the ear after 44.100 doesnt feel the difference...so cd is better and in quality and in frequences because it straight from a studio mixer with none loss...even the head of the best vinyl player can take exactly the sound is on the surface on the cd...even the vinyl creator can in the same point as laser...and to see it by yourself...and fuck all the djs that is truth because the vinyl is better for mixing...and compare a track recored in a cd and a vinyl and dont say that the only prob in the vinyl is the volume...set your ears to dont hear only the "daba douba" but the quality and frequencies that u hear in the cd...of course u need monitor speakers to understand the difference in frequencies..if u have ass-speakers u hear the bass and u think is better sound..and isnt..its rubbish, think a little, the cds that comes from the company and had become a very good mastering in the tracks inside are state of art...

thats true, but vinyls are just more fun, i dont really understand what ur arguing about, the human ear cant really hear beyond 20000 hertz and cds and vynils have way more frequencies than that, so for the human ear it will sound the same, exept the crackles in vynils sometimes (and thats also depand on how clean the record is), so i belive that the only measurment for me is what is easier for me to mix, and what can i make with the machine, and with both i find pros and cons, and i belive that exept that there is no reason to argue bout what is better...

Off course vinyls have fun, and its the best for a dj because the dj feels that they rule, they "touch" the sound that in the club "takes" so many place, and about mixing is the best. The crackles is not a big problem, u can avoid them if u keep the record in a good condition and u poor liquid in the surface when it playing..Sure the ears cant be hear more but i hear the mp3s of rip teams,, all of them are shit when i hear a cd version of the same tracks..and this is the reason that vinyl is the best for a big places sound because of the high (treble) frequencies of a cd , would be created a chaotic atmosphere that a very little number of people would understand what they hear, the vinyl exports "club sound" but anyway u can eq the cd to export also mainly club sound.

one is not better than the other
it's like comparing apples to oranges
one is analoge and one is digital
now if we were comparing cassette tapes to vinyl or minidiscs to cds, then there's a valid arguement
you really can't compare an analoge medium to a digital one
both have their weaknesses and strengths

like i said, and will say again
it's all just a matter of personal preference

now if we can just stop bickering like little kids and grow up

FACTS:

1) CD's weigh less
this makes them easier to transport and you can carry more with you.

CD's are smaller
same as above, transportation, storage etc.

CD's have a larger capacity
ive got maxi's like rapture with 3 edits and 9 mixes on. how many vinyl would you need to accomodate that?

CD's are cheaper
maxi cd's are £3.50 like the rapture one. to buy all them mixes on vinyl would cost 4-5 times as much as that. cd singles are £3 brand new.

CD's dont wear with play
If you look after your cd's they will last forever. they come in plastic cases, so sleeves dont wear either.

CD's can be written
while all you vinyl lovers paid £100+ for the ayu m e.p. i copied the vinyl to perfect wav, burned the cd and hey, i sold the vinyl for a nice £120, and im still using the CD today

CD's can have looping
you can have seamless loping for longer outro's etc to make mixes sounds smoother and fluent.

CD's dont jump, skip
if youve not got bottom of the range equipment, they dont jump.

CD's arnt rice crispies
they dont go snap crackle and pop

CD's are easier to manipulate
any digital source is

CD's are undistinguishable from vinyl
you cant tell the difference when there being played. I bet none of you noticed for the last year tiesto has been playing Voyage, Cafe Del Mar etc etc on CD. YOU CANT TELL!!

CD's are ideal for Trance
trance music dosent require scratching, even if it did, modern digital turn tables can reproduce the sound 100% accurately without actually scratching the platter.

CD's & digital turntable are the begginging of the end for vinyl lovers

CD's can contain ur own tracks
unless you own your own vinyl cutter, only cd's can be easily made.

classic quote from a recent interview....

"What advantages does the CD medium have over traditional vinyl?"

"CD is going to become more dominant on the turntablism side. If you come with two traditional turntables and play, that's great; I respect the skill it takes to be a true vinyl turntablist. But now that you can do 99 percent of that on a CD — plus the seamless looping, flash points, sampling and have all these effects built-in — you'll be coming to the fight with a knife, and I'll be bringing a gun."

Jester Come On Guys!

I am a music lover and like the rest of the people here I do party whenever i can coz the sheer energy that u get of being in a club listening to LOUD music is more exciting then anything else in the world. The music, the sound, the whole atmosphere of being in a club and having fun with ur friends, It just takes u on a different level with a high thats indescribable..Guys when im in a club like most other people i go there for the MUSIC! Not becuase the dj is mixing with a CD or a VINYL...thats the last thing on my mind! I dont go to a club if a dj is mixing with a cd and i dont go to a club if a dj is mixing with vinyl! i go coz i WANT to! Ive heard djs mix with cd's that where amazing and ive heard djs mix with turn tables which were just as good! but u know what ive cheered both of em like there was no differance, When a dj plays a song which u like to listen to, U respect him n dance like thers no tomorrow! that for YOU is the bestest thing in the world and that for HIM is the bestest feeling in the world, coz making so many people dance is no joke! Not everyone can be a DJ, thats why they are so special people! for me it dosent make a difference what they r playing a Cd or a VINYL... as long as thers good music..IM GONNA BE THERE DANCING! lol so quit this argument on a good note, GO OUT N PARTY!!! lol
cheers from india!

I've followed the whole discussion, and I am planning on buying 2 cd-decks or 2 phono's, but I don't know which one yet. So basically you say that cd's have a better sound quality, but the best songs(and mostly by unknown artists) come out on vinyl and not on cd don't they?

Well, if you had been following the whole discussion, you would know that VINYL has better sound quality (currently) but cds will mintain cd quality indefintely, where as vinyl degrades in quality over time.

There are plenty of tracks on both vinyl and cd, you just have to know where to find them. www.gemm.com is a great search tool for both mediums. My personal take on it, and this is what I also do at home, is spin with cds and get a TT on the side. This way you can get the benifits of not eroding your music collection evertime you spin or having to worry about people stealing your tracks either. You can edit/manipulate the tracks before you burn them to cd also. (like standardizing the BPM or starting the track on the first bass beat etc) But with also having a TT, you never eliminate any possible source of music, for one. Secondly, you can learn to spin on both mediums so that you make yourself a more versital dj.
