Interesting thread, good topic.
Lots of great points have been brought up. I believe that a lot of this backlash has come due to his exposure, I mean shit, the guys' gotta radio show thats aired once a week! I, and a lot of us wouldnt be able to hear Armin as often as we do, if it werent for ASOT. Furthermore, b/c of this once a week airing, we are able to sit here and scruitinize him. "He played that track last week" Or "He's played that a month straight" Or "Hey this is new, im likin this" etc.
Having said all that, I really do enjoy Armin and his sets. I believe that he has his own style thats his "niche." It won't appeal to everyone, but thats ok, b/c you can never appeal to everyone. Who knows maybe in time my opinion will change, but currently I like what Armin's doing, and I like most of his productions as well.
Thats my $0.02

What do you put into your live sets that has made you a dancefloor favorite for the past decade?
"I’m a dance floor favorite? Great! I would say the passion that I feel for the music I buy and the honesty with how I play it. I play the records I love not the ones that simply work. I’ve never taken the easy music option (which would make me a lot more money by the way) but chosen to push people a little. I try to draw people in a new direction slightly and expand their taste a little more than other DJ’s." - Lee Burridge
