Someone wrote a really interesting article in SI about playoff contending teams that, if they made the playoffs, would have the best chance of making the series. The cubs were at the top of that list
Apparently, ever since Moneyball, there's been a huge push to use Jamesianesque stats as a way to predict how well a team would do if it made the playoffs. James always said the playoffs were a crap shoot but people are trying it anyway - the two stats I remember (I think) were strikeouts per walks and a stat that assessed how many runs a defense prevented (Like James' "Range Factor" but applied to the whole team). It was all really theoretical, probably not viable but nonetheless interesting. Thought you might it interesting JerZ. |
