I have strong feelings that cashman and torre should quit.

Mussina (horrible resigning), Igawa (nuf said), Damon (he looks older everyday), cashman makes so many stupid moves but he can cover it up by throwing more money at the problem. He would run a team on a budget into the ground. Sure he's stocked the minors a bit, but that doesn't make up for the shit moves he makes to have a current 'winning team'.

back on topic. I don't think piazza would be a good pickup. The guy is old and is always injured. We need youth, speed, and perhaps a little more power. I wouldn't be opposed to picking up teixeira.

Yea, but to get him, we'd have to sacrifice quite a bit.

Power is the least of our worries. They need to dump Damon (they should have never picked him up in the first place), and find themselves a new lead off hitter with speed.

Secondly, they NEED to find relief pitching. E. Gagne/A. Otsuka, B. Fuentes, C. Cordero, and J. Nathan are all rumored to be available to move. They need to find themselves a veteran long reliever like Scot Shields. Otherwise, they are gonna keep blowing leads or impinge on their chances of getting back into a game.

Tex would fill more than power, he'd be the first 'real' first baseman we've had since tino.

I agree that damon was a stupid pick up. Who's out in the market for leadoff hitters? Mabye we need to drop Jet back in the leadoff role and move melke or cano in the 2 hole.

i agree with you on the reliever front. that was the biggest mistake during the offseason, not getting a high quality reliever. However, I don't like Gagne, he's always injured. I've never been impressed with Otsuka (from watching against the yankees). Cordero or nathan would be nice, but neither would come cheaply.

This guy edwin jackson has a 1-9 record with a 6.80 era!!! (second worst record in MLB) talk about inconsistency, the yankees can't even score off of him. i can't even talk about this anymore.....back to studying.

Yeah, I never understood why you guys paid Damon so much for so long. Crisp hasn't been very good but he's a lot cheaper so that dulls the pain.

Tex would be a good addition for you guys but Texas would probably want Cashman to unload some pitching prospects for him, which I don't think is worth it.

Gagne's putting up good, albeit limited, numbers this year. For a team that either destroys or gets destroyed I don't quite understand why the Rangers had use for a power closer but that's just me. I think Gagne would be useful for spot relief pitching and he'd probably come cheap.

Cordero alot cheaper than Nathan, plus it would give Torre someone to trust to close when Rivera has his stint on the DL to rest.

Ive thought the same. I think they need to put Jeter in lead off, and since Cano has been hitting lately, Torre should let him hit #2 as a reward, it might pay off. I think instead of sending Igawa back to Scranton when Hughes comes back next week, they should keep him as a 2 inning pitcher.

He wants to close, and Texas will most likely not let him go cheap because he has been putting up good numbers. If Cashman goes after Tex, he needs to get Gagne or Otsuka with him. It might be a better deal than to go for Tex separately and someone else separately. But the Yanks trading for relief pitching is as realistic as Reyes getting traded.

LoL

I like the idea of putting Igawa in the pen. Getting Hughes back should be a big bonus, he scares the sh*t out of me.

Schilling has a rehab start tomorrow which means we're one step closer to getting him back and one step closer to sending Tavarez to a permanent seat in the bullpen or, if we're lucky, pawtucket.

What I dont understand is why the Yanks were even bothering to swing at Edwin Jacksons pitches. The guy through 2 innings had a 24/15 (or something like that) Ball/Strike count. And half of those strikes were swings at horrible pitches. FFS, he started the game throwing 5 straight balls before he could throw a strike.
